Alpine Ski K2 Annex 118

Ski sold without binding.

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

In the promodel lineup, here is Seth Morrison's one, designed for performing through deep powder. The ski looks big and it is big but once you throw it on the steeps you understand what the ski is capable of.

What can the K2 ANNEX 118 do?

With a 118mm waist, these are skis that you take out only when conditions are optimal, meaning when it has been dumping all night long! The Annex 118 features a big rocker through the tip for effortless floatation and maximal speed on the deep. It destroys any obstacle lying on the way and blasts through crud with a ridiculous ease. It is a ski suited for riding hard and fast no matter what. Watch for the avalanche though! The ski floats with style but it also knows how to fly. Whether you jump off a cornice or a natural booter you'll enjoy nailing tricks! Despite its long turning radius (23m) the ski feels nimble on pow and really fun to play with. However, it's not the kind of ski you have fun with on groomers. It delivers a decent edge hold but it's not the most precise ski ever, don't expect racing performance, you're on a backcountry ski!

Who is the K2 ANNEX 118 designed for?

Best suited for advanced and expert skiers looking for ultimate performance in the backcountry. The Annex 118 is a powder gun, bar none.

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Long turns

Shape

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

Structure - Construction

  • Hybritech sidewalls  :

This wider-waisted construction combines the accuracy and power performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight and smooth turn initiation of cap construction. Offered exclusively on the Side series, Hybritech makes skis strong, accurate and powerful underfoot, while maintaining smooth initiation and easy exits from turns.

  • Poplar/Maple/Fir core  :

Wood cores have been used in the ski industry for ages. They deliver stability and rebound while killing vibrations. They're extremely durable.

  • Triaxial braiding  :

Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, that maintains the lively flex patterns of the wood core.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Powder Rocker  :

This tip has the most elevation and longest measurement of Rocker and offers skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions.

Simply put, Powder Rocker provides unmatched flotation in deep snow.

Various

  • Powder Tip  :

Designed to be more predictable in soft snow conditions, these tips are designed to strike the perfect balance of maximizing float while reducing tip deflection. These tips are designed with a gentle arc and transition into the sidecut of the ski.

  • Tapered Tip  :

The widest point of the tip is further back on the ski, which reduces the weight of the tip and the resistance of it in soft snow.
