Alpine Ski K2 Wayback 82

Ski sold without binding.

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

Narrow and ultra light, the Wayback 82 is a fast climber, it is a pure touring ski that incorporates all of K2's know-how. Its paulownia construction helps minimising efforts and calories burnt during ascents without sacrificing the fun on the downhill.

What can the K2 Wayback 85 touring ski do?

This is a very good pick if you plan to skin up every summit you can see. The Wayback 82 is an excellent climber, it feels super nimble and works very well with skins attached. Kick turns are easy and you can rely on the ski's edge to keep you on track without having to use crampons. On the downhill, the 82mm waist delivers support and agility in varying conditions and the rocker enhances floatability and manoeuverability on soft snow. Just keep in mind that you're not on a fat ski and very deep powder will find the limits of the ski.

Who is the K2 Wayback 82 touring ski designed for?

Its lightweight and its narrow width make it best suited for long tours and ascents. It is for sporty tourers looking for a light and nimble ski for optimal uphill performance.

Structure - Construction

  • Cap Construction  :

Durable and lightweight cap skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis performance.

  • Carbon Web  :

The Mod structure is wrapped by carbon fiber. The carbon stringers are oriented with a precise angle in order to increase resistance to torsion on the secondary core. That delivers a lighter ski that will stay solid against torsion where it's needed.

  • Poplar/Paulownia core  :

K2's Adventure skis use an Aspen/Paulownia blend core. Lower-density Aspen and even lighter-weight Paulownia allow us to reduce the weight that results from the added surface area of wider skis. In addition, the Bio Core is 15% lighter than the fir/aspen blend traditional in our all-mountain skis.

  • Torsion Box Technology  :

Torsion Box construction is the foundation for the widest range of skis designed by K2. Depending on the dimensions of a ski, and the amount of flex and torsion designed into it, one model of a Torsion Box ski can differ greatly from another. The versatility in the construction enables us to build everything from entry-level through expert skis. While there will be significant differences between a DarkSide and a MissConduct, they do share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness, and energy that can be found in all Torsion Box skis.

Technology

  • All-Terrain Rocker  :

All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.

Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.

Various

  • Snophobic Top Sheets  :

Since snow collecting on the ski can add pounds to a climb, our SnoPhobic tops keeps you light with a new snow-repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so we’ve developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the BackSide model-specific topsheets.
