Alpine Ski Salomon Q105

Ski sold without binding.

The Q series returns for the joy of us all. You won’t see any new skis in it though, the range is so complete there was no need to expand it anymore.  The Q105 enters the ‘fat’ family, it is the kind of ski that leaves you breathless with a smile on your face when it has been snowing all night.

What can the Salomon Q105 do?

With a waist at 104mm the Q105 is an explorer. Leaving tracks on the deep will be your main goal for the day with that ski on your feet.  It utilises Salomon’s latest technologies to deliver great floatation and manoeuverability such as the honeycomb tip or Hook Free tapered shape. The Q105 is a true freerider.  But if you wish to return on hard snow, you will be surprises. Despite the size of the ski, it grips hard and delivers solid stability at speed.

Who was the Salomon Q105 designed for?

You are advanced or expert skier and you’re looking for a 100mm+ waisted ski to go have fun on powder, then the Q105 is a safe pick. From long smooth arcs on bottomless fresh snow to hardcore steep slopes, the Q105 backs you up with performance and stability. The ski feels a lot more versatile than it looks!

What are the main assets of the Salomon Q105?

Powder manoeuverability

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Long turns

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Weight of the pair in grams

  • 4020 en 181cm

Structure - Construction

  • 100% wood core from tip to tail  :

Provides optimum stability and powerful rebounce. Better contact ski/snow and reduces vibrations.

  • Honeycomb structured tips  :

Tips are ultralight and offer a better floatability. Less swing weight for added manoeuverability et more control. Better dampening and durability.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Utility Rocker  :

Optimal float and control paired with an excellent absorbtion of terrain changes

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.

  • Edge Free extremities  :

No edges in the tip or tail area of the ski provide more fluid gliding in powder because edges don't hang up and weight is reduced.
