Alpine Ski Salomon Q85

Ski sold without binding.

The Q series returns for the joy of us all. You won’t have any new skis in it though, the range is so complete there was no need to expand it anymore.
The Q85 is opening the All Mountain Backside range and will help you discover new thrills!

What can the Salomon Q85 do?

You could easily get confused with that ski. At first sight, it almost looks like a piste specific ski. 100% woodcore, semi sandwich construction, the ski delivers grip and stability as would do a racing ski.
But if you take a closer look, you’ll see a tapered Hook Free shape and a Utility Rocker providing the powder performance of a good backside ski.

Who is the Salomon Q85 designed for?

With 85mm at the waist, the Q85 is a good mid fat ski. Best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers, the ski is agile and easy to manoeuver. It works very well on groomed snow and carves like a true alpine ski and turns into a freeride bomb when taken on fresh snow. Its construction and shape keep the ski floating on the surface and bursting through crud with an effortless ease.
On top of it, Salomon made it compatible with the Camlock system allowing you to mount your climbing skins easily in case you feel like going on a tour!

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Multi-turns

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Weight of the pair in grams

  • 3170 en 174cm

Structure - Construction

  • 100% wood core from tip to tail  :

Provides optimum stability and powerful rebounce. Better contact ski/snow and reduces vibrations.

  • Semi-Sandwich  :

Combination of ABS sidewalls under the foot with monocoque construction by the tip and the tail for a smoother ski/snow contact, a more forgiving feel and easier turns.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Utility Rocker  :

Optimal float and control paired with an excellent absorbtion of terrain changes

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Thicker edges  :

For a longer durability and stronger against impacts.

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.
