Alpine Ski Scott Black Majic

Ski sold without binding.

Scott releases a new ski in 2014 named Majic. A new plank in their all-mountain line-up delivering all-terrain performance. The ski features a sandwich construction with the elliptic titanal technology and 3D sidecuts. The combination enhances the stiffness of the ski and its edge hold on hard snow. It also has a very progressive rocker through the tip allowing easier and smoother turn entries while the 78mm waist (in 177cm) ensures optimal agility.

What our testers say : The ski felt very playful and docile on pistes. Very intuitive, it adapts to unexpected terrain changes quite easily and keeps the skiing lively. It meets the needs of the most demanding carvers. Off piste, the ski requires technique. With only 78mm at the waist, floatation doesn't come naturally and your thighs will have to do some work to keep it afloat. Perhaps not the best place for the ski.

Structure - Construction

  • Tip to tail woodcore  :

The long woodcore gives the ski a more consistent flex and more fluidity through transitions.

  • SSCL TIT E  : AGILITY & PRECISION - SCOTT`s Elliptical Sandwich construction is paired with a titanal top and bottom sheet, providing exceptional torsional stiffness and precise edge control.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Pro Tip 300 mm  :

By incorporating a progressive tip height radius, SCOTT skis simply track better than the competition. SCOTT's Pro-Tip produces a more consistent ski flex and predictable turns. Pro-Tip is available in three heights 300mm (Precision On-Piste), 350mm (All-Mountain) and 375mm (Full Freeride). Tip Rocker 300mm

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • 3D Sidecut  :

Revolutionary technology combining 2 radius with a central straight sidecut, allowing twin rocker skis to be brilliant on off pist with an excellent edge grip on pistes.

  • Factory Finish  :

SCOTT skis come direct from the factory "ready to ski" with SCOTT factory finish. Every factory finished ski leaves the factory with side edges ground at 89° and base edges ground between 0.5° and 0.8° for exceptional performance. The base is finished with a micro structured CNC stone grind so you can mount your skis and hit the hill, no tuning required.

  • Pre Track  :

When developing Pre-Track, SCOTT designed skis with wide tips and/or slightly turned up tails. With Pre-Track, SCOTT skis employ a smaller effective edge for short radius turns on groomed slopes and a longer effective edge when making bigger turns or skiing off-piste. The result is a more precise, stable, reliable and versatile ski.
