Alpine Ski Scott Powd'Air

Ski sold without binding.

Powder, more powder and powder again. This is the Powd'Air's way of living. This touring fat ski is obviously designed for surfing on pow and explore the entire mountain. As usual, Scott worked jointly with mountain guides in Chamonix to design and improve this new version of the Powd'Air which delivers high performance.

What can the Scott Powd'Air do?

But before throwing yourself down the hill, you'll need to climb it. And the Powd'Air will actually help you. Its ultra light paulownia core reinforced with carbon makes any ascent totally effortless. Its 100mm waist (in 183cm) may feel a little bulky when you're kick turning but once you get used to it, there's no problem. Despite the massive sidecuts, the ski only weighs 1700g (per ski) which is pretty impressive and that means you can easily plan a day-long tour with it and still have legs at the end of the day. But where the Powd'Air excels compared to most traditional touring skis, it's on the downhill. Its huge platform and rockers make it float as if it was easy. The ski manoeuvers naturally through the deep and performs like a freeride ski. Its carbon construction offers reactivity as well allowing you to ride on harder snow and still feel comfortable on it.

Who is the Scott Powd'Air designed for?

Whether you're a mountain guide or a tourer with ambitions, the Powd'Air will definitely stick a smile on your face. It does require solid technical skills if you want to fully enjoy the ski, but it's a real good multitasker.

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Long turns

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  • 3D Carbon Frame  :

This specific geometric frame reduces the weight and reinforces the top compression layer of the ski. The frame is also an ideal solution to control the torsion. When used on carbon touring skis, it increases safety and flex performance on steep slopes.

  • SSCL Carbon  :

Classic sandwich construction with slanted sidewalls and superior and inferior laminated reinforcements; Radius and cap finish on the top part of the structure.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Pro Tip 375 mm  :

By incorporating a progressive tip height radius, SCOTT skis simply track better than the competition. SCOTT's Pro-Tip produces a more consistent ski flex and predictable turns. Pro-Tip is available in three heights 300mm (Precision On-Piste), 350mm (All-Mountain) and 375mm (Full Freeride). Tip rocker 375mm

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Dual Radius  :

Traditional skis have a fixed radius that determines the length of every turn. SCOTT skis combine two radii (dual radius) to create the sidecut or “shape” of the ski. By incorporating the Dual Radius concept, the ski can turn when you want it to turn, resulting in a more versatile ski which is not confined to one type of skiing or terrain.

  • Factory Finish  :

SCOTT skis come direct from the factory "ready to ski" with SCOTT factory finish. Every factory finished ski leaves the factory with side edges ground at 89° and base edges ground between 0.5° and 0.8° for exceptional performance. The base is finished with a micro structured CNC stone grind so you can mount your skis and hit the hill, no tuning required.
