Alpine Ski Stockli Stormrider 95

Ski sold without binding.

Once you weigh it, you understand. The core made of sabei and ash woods brings lightweight to its best. And a light ski means less effort for more pleasure. We aren't saying this is an easy ski to discover the mountain with. Nope. The Stormrider 95 is more of an all-mountain assault weapon than a beginner-friendly toy. Featuring a Powder Rocker and a 95mm waist, the beast likes it when the snow gets deep and the slope gets steep. But if the ski was just good on pow, it would be a regular ski. Stöckli does not make regular skis, Stöckli makes great skis. And this is why on top it, the ski incorporates the TiTEC in its DNA. A plate of titanal was inserted in it to make the ski extremely precise and reactive on hard snow. If this isn't the definition of the ultimate all-mountain, then I might as well try snowboarding...

What our testers say : Riding this was a real honor. We couldn't tell where the ski worked best. It was so snappy on the hardpack and so amazing on powder that it felt like it was made for both. It really shines when launched at full speed and performs with an incredible energy through the whole mountain. Just one thing, it was kinda difficult to make the ski turn short, so don't buy it if you like slaloming through the trees. However, if you're that kind of skier who rides hard and fast regardless of the terrain, then the Stormrider 95 is a safe bet.

Structure - Construction

  • ABS Sidewalls :

ABS is a polymeric materials used in the making of vertical sidewalls for protecting the ski core. ABS is known for transfering energy more efficiently and for being more durable.

  • Construction TiTec :

This not only looks like metal - it is metal! The titanal material is cross-ground and the design is then sublimated. Next to saving weight the surface is given a unique touch!

  • Light Core :

Light and stable - the new wood combination of Sabei (Fuma) and ash that make up the lightweight core fulfill just these criteria. Even lighter is balsa wood - one of the lightest woods available and yet best suited for ski construction.

  • Sandwich System :

Sandwich construction is part of a quality ski. This construction layers different materials chosen for their physical characteristics depending on the characteristics needed for the ski.

Camber type

  • Classic camber :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Powder Rocker :

The longer curvature in the shovel improves lift in powder snow and prevents the ski from burying itself so easily underneath the snow. The early curvature also reduce the gliding surface, making the ski feel shorter and more maneuverable. On the slope the shorter running surface makes carving easier, requiring considerably less effort especially with wider skis.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

  • Transparent Split Base :

A part of the base in the fore ski is transparent, and lets the design appear.
