Description

Bigger and wider than the Ubac, here is the Ubac XL, designed for skiers who just can't get enough! This is ZAG offering to those who like taking challenges. The brand is known for making playful freeride skis. The 2017 UBAC XL is no exception. Based on the Ubac construction with an ultra-light paulownia woodcore and a RX Grip Dual rocker, the ski gets 1cm wider at the waist for a maximal length of 188cm. The mission of this free-touring ski is to help riders reach the most remote spots in the mountain and get maximum fun on the downhill.

What can the ZAG UBAC XL free-touring ski do?

It is a great ski for those holy powdery days. Ideally suited for full speed riding through deep stuff, the Ubac XL, despite a pretty long turning radius, appears to be very nimble thanks to its tip and tail rocker. The ski floats naturally and effortlessly on fresh pow and feels just great no matter how deep it gets. Another great benefit is the lightweight construction making the ski easy to steer and tour-friendly. If you combine it with an adequate pair of bindings and skins, you can easily climb to the peak without killing your legs. Say thank you to the ZTH Hybrid construction in paulownia. Last thing to mention, it comes with a traditional camber giving the ski added responsiveness and enhanced grip in case you had to ride on groomers.

Who is the ZAG UBAC XL free-touring ski designed for?

These are skis suited for advanced riders looking for a wide platform under their feet that can climb mountains and surf its way down. If you do not want to compromise performance and lightweight, you can bet on the UBAC XL.

Tips and advice

On glisshop.co.uk, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of products we sell. How can you find the right skis, which ones can suit your level, your style or your budget?

Your options:

1. The advanced search engine: You'll find it everywhere on our website, as a sidebar on our listing pages. It allows you to select conditions and refine your selection: brand, level, style, etc. When you select them, only the relevant products will show.

2. You can contact us on the 020 3129 3301: skis feature fine technologies and affect your safety. It is important to make sure that the skis you've selected will suit you. Call our landline and get in touch with our team for any questions regarding these products.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.
