Looking for a klister or open wax for transformed snow?
You are in the right place. Using a grip wax like a klister is recommended when snow gets wet or transforms. Simon Fourcade Nørdic stores for you a wide range of klisters in order to face varying snow conditions.
Are you the proud owner of waxable skis but don't really know to choose your grip wax? First of all, congratulations! This type of ski is the most noble and traditional on the market. Regarding the waxing, no worries, we have a few buying tips to help you see things clearer.
In nordic ski, the klister is used 70% of the time. Unlike stick waxes, it is made for wet and transformed snows. This is typically the type of conditions you'll get after a mild speel or when the sun starts to warm up the snowpack and brings back moisture in the air.
How to choose my klister tubes?
As you may have noticed, we have various tube colors and each one represents a different operating temperature range. To make the right choice, it's a good idea to keep a thermometer close by, this way, you will be very precise and limit the risk of a bad waxing that may force you to ride only using your arms' strength.
How do I apply klister on my classic skis?
If you want the klister to stick to your skis, you should prepare your skis' wax chamber with sandpaper beforehand.
Then, put some klister all along the waxing zone on both sides of the central groove and try to follow the design of the scales. Next, heat up the klister using a heat gun or a blowtorch while being very careful not to burn the sole. At last, smoothen the wax with the palm of your hand until you get a smooth and homogenous layer. Do not hesitate to repeat this operation two or three times for a proper waxing.

The Simon Fourcade Nørdic tip:
When you wax with klister, start by heating the tube with a heat gun or a blowtorch. The wax will become liquid and consequently, easier to apply. Always press the rear of your wax tube so that it doesn't break. Smoothen the wax with the palm of your hand and you will quickly notice how hard it is to get rid of this sticky texture. Wash your hands with a bit of moisturizing cream if you don't want to stain your your nordic ski clothing.
