The brushing is a key element in the waxing process. You will be able to remove the last bits of glide wax still present on your base after scraping. If you were scrolling through our products wondering what brush is best for you, this buying guide should help you see things more clearly.
Manual or rotative brush?
As you may have noticed, there are two types of brushes, manual brushes and rotavive brushes.
Waxing professionals usually prefer rotative brushes as they guarantee excellent results within the shortest time. They work with a drill and a rotating axis. Be cautious in your choice as many brands offer these products and compatibility is not always guaranteed, make sure you are buying rotative brushes with an axis from the same brand to avoid this problem.
Manual brushes are way more economical and just as practical if you have more than one pair to wax. Brushes of all sorts exist, with basics or oval ones with a strap for a better grip.
What brush should I go for?
It all depends on the kind of waxing you are doing. Usually during the brushing phase, you go through 2 ou 3 brushes with a few passings for each. You should start with the hardest brush and end with the smoothest. For more tips, go to our "Tutorials" section and we will show you how to get your waxing right.
A good skier's waxing drawer includes at least three brushes:
- A stiff brass brush
- A soft brass brush
- A nylon brush
Fiberlene is a piece of fabric you use at the end of waxing. It will suppress the very-last residues of dust coming from the gliding wax and let you polish your sole to the max. This is an indispensable product for a meticulous waxing.
The Simon Fourcade Nørdic tip:
Some specific applications such as the Cera waxing require the passing of special brushes, we recommend you brushes with horse or boar hair for this one.
And of course, do not forget to clean up your brushes as often as possible.
