Buying guide for men's cross-country ski trousers:
The most important feature of sports clothing is to keep you warm, but in cross-country skiing, it is equally important not to overdress as the body warms up as it moves. Hyperthermia has a negative impact on exercise as much as hypothermia. Choose your clothing carefully so you do not waste energy warming yourself up or removing excess heat as this energy cannot then be used for your performance. If you are unsure, look at our buying advice to ensure you choose the right clothing.
Do you need trousers or tights?
To choose the correct men's cross-country ski trousers it is important to take into account current weather conditions and the intensity of efforts exerted. During a competition or warm weather, it is better to wear tights. Cross-country ski tights, will give you the greatest freedom of movement possible. Made of polyester or lycra, tights provide optimum heat and moisture transfer to allow you to perform in the best possible conditions.
Insulated trousers are advisable when the weather is bad. They are more waterproof than tights, they provide effective protection against the wind and bad weather. These garments are not designed to create warmth but they are used in addition to tights when it is cold or before a competition to help the body preserve heat and not waste energy fighting off the cold. Insulated trousers are also very practical as they can be removed quickly, using the side zips, without taking off the cross-country ski boots
What size cross-country ski trousers should you choose?
Underclothing needs to be worn close to the body. So it needs to hug the body as closely as possible so you can have the greatest freedom of movement. But don't worry, they are designed using stretch panels in the areas where there is the most movement so they adapt to your moves.
