Faction Candide CT 3.0 2017

Alpine Ski Faction Candide 3.0

The Candide 3.0 by Faction doesn’t really need an introduction does it? One of the most reknowned pro model of one of the most reknowned pro riders returns for 2017. The freeride beast is as powerful as it used to and comes with a new micro cap construction making the ski stronger. The top sheet now covers the entire ski width and comes down to the edges, covering the sidewalls as well. Inside, we find the same ultra light woodcore featuring balsa wood for an explosive result!

What can the Faction Candide 3.0 ski do?

The fat ski delivers impressive performance on powder. Its huge sidecuts (136/108/132) make it an absolute blast on steep powdery slopes. It floats as if it was natural and surfes on pow with a ridiculous ease. Charge down the fall line and experience what Candide lives every day and recreate his videos. But wide fields of powder are not the only thing the ski deals with, despite its dimensions, the Candide 3.0 remains agile and can move flawlessly through the trees. It also delivers a strong edge grip on hard snow and if you’re one of those riders who like to do a few approaches to be able to ride where nobody else has, mount it with touring bindings, you will appreciate how light a big ski like this can be.

Who is the Faction Candide 3.0 ski designed for?

It is not a ski for everybody. You better have solid skills if you want to manage the ski and you better have strong legs if you want to enjoy it for the day. It is a powerful and responsive powder gun suited for experienced freeriders who know what they’re going for.

What are the main assets of the Faction Candide 3.0 ski?

Structure - Construction

  • Balsa D250  :

Balsa is an exceptionnally light hardwood. Laminated vertically together divided by strips of woven flax (also known as linseed), to provide additional torsional and compression strength.

  • Sandwich Construction  :

    Sandwich construction

  •  :

Titanal plates secure the binding screws. The one-piece design fits most touring bindings with centre screws.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • 10/200mm Tip Rocker  :

Skis featuring a rockered tip and a traditional or flat camber float better on soft snow and deliver goof performance on groomers.

    10mm rise on a 200mm length.

  • 5/150 Tail Rocker  :

5mm Rocker though 150mm in the tail

  • 2mm Camber  :

Easy turn initiation on the slope, added reactivity off piste

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  •  :

In continuing their efforts to improve chip-resistance in their skis, Faction has incorporated a ‘micro’ cap where the topsheet meets the sidewall on their sandwich construction skis. Available on most models.

  • Semelle Ptex-4000 bases  :

Very High density base for an excellent glide performance, wax retention, and resistance to abrasion.

  • Custom Matte Topsheet

Binding technologies

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
