Alpine Ski Faction Candide 4.0

Faction carry over this year the Candide 4.0, Candide Thovex’s pro model  freeride ski. They updated it to make it more versatile and accessible. The main modification is the sidecut which became this year 140/118/134 compare to last year 150/122/140. The Candide 4.0 gained in handiness and still stays an supercharged fat ski, really stiff to engage on the steepest faces of the globe.

What can the Faction Candide 4.0 ski do?

Like Candide Thovex, the Candide 4.0 is a powder monster looking to shred any runs at Mach 2. Ideal for backcountry skiing, it got everything you need to send massive tricks in deep. The double rocker allows smooth landings even in switch. Even if the 2017 Candide 4.0 ski is nimbler it is still pretty demanding.

Who is the Faction Candide 4.0 ski designed for?

Faction designed this ski for freeriders who want the ultimate powder weapon to shred pow all winter long. Really specific this insane ski is dedicated to big powder days. Watch out, if you want to tame the beast you will need the required skills and physical conditions. Experts only!

What are the main assets of the Faction Candide 4.0 ski?

Powder buoyancy

Structure - Construction

  • Balsa D250  :

Balsa is an exceptionnally light hardwood. Laminated vertically together divided by strips of woven flax (also known as linseed), to provide additional torsional and compression strength.

  • Sandwich Construction  :

    Sandwich construction

  •  :

Titanal plates secure the binding screws. The one-piece design fits most touring bindings with centre screws.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  •  :

The Rocker, or reverse camber, enhances powder floatation thanks to a bigger surface of contact with the snow. By combining different degrees of rocker with a flat or normal camber, powder performance is improved while piste performance isn't affected.

  • 15/300mm tip rocker  :

The Rocker, or reverse camber, enhances powder floatation thanks to a bigger surface of contact with the snow. By combining different degrees of rocker with a flat or normal camber, powder performance is improved while piste performance isn't affected.

  • 1mm Camber  :

Easier turn initiations on piste, added reactivity off piste

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

  •  :

In continuing their efforts to improve chip-resistance in their skis, Faction has incorporated a ‘micro’ cap where the topsheet meets the sidewall on their sandwich construction skis. Available on most models.

  • Ptex-4000 die-cut bases  :

Very High density base for an excellent glide performance, wax retention, and resistance to abrasion.

Ski Binding Marker Griffon 13 ID 120mm White

The Griffon features the same specs as the Jester, but it's more suitable for young and light skiers. The Griffon binding features strong screws and a centered balance. The tranversal spring in the toe piece and the compact construction allow the binding to be particularly short, ideal for spins.

The binding isn't compatible with Head boots Cube3 and I-Type.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Inter-Pivot Heel  :

The stunning heel construction delivers superior holding power for free riding, featuring DIN/ISO 6-16. The Inter Pivot Heel directs the power forces in the angle of elasticity improving the holding power and reducing pre-releases.
