Alpine Ski Faction Prodigy 2.0

The Prodigy series from Faction is going to get the freestyle crowd on its feet. Numbered from 1.0 to 4.0, Prodigy skis come with different widths, each being specific to a particular terrain. The Prodigy 2.0 boasts a 96mm underfoot platform which makes it super versatile and capable of dealing with any snow conditions the mountain throws at you. Its multi-turn radius keeps your lines fluid when the terrain changes while its twin-tip profile and rockered tips allow for freestyle fun anywhere on the mountain, even on deep snow.

What can the Faction Prodigy 2.0 ski do?

The Prodigy 2.0 is ideally suited for tearing the mountain into pieces and attacking it as if it did something to offend you. The ski works on all terrains, it floats pow with style and holds on the hardpack with ease. It slaloms through trees and snowboarders and inspires confidence. It is a good ski for an every day use with a touch of freestyle creativity in it. From natural booters to handshaped park features, you’ll enjoy the ski’s flexibility and playfulness. It’s got pop too although there are other skis poppier and the most hard-charging skiers may want something a little stiffer. On the other hand, the Prodigy 2.0 is enjoyable anywhere and delivers that smooth and loose feel we all love.

Who is the Faction Prodigy 2.0 ski designed for?

Twin-tipped ski for versatile skiers looking for a playful and multitasking partner. The Prodigy 2.0 is agile and undemanding, suited for intermediate levels who seek progression of for advanced skiers who want a fun toy to do it all.

Shape

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

  • 3520 (178cm)

Structure - Construction

  • Dual Radius Sidecuts  :

Borrowed from world cup race skis, two different radius on the one ski- a tighter radius forward of the boot center coupled with a 20% larger sidecut behind- lets us increase the edge-to-edge responsiveness so you can carve short turns whilst retaining high speed stability and control through the tail of the ski.

  • Poplar & Ash Core  :

A poplar core with ash "stringers" is used for their complimentary characteristics of dampness and responsiveness. Used on the bulk of the skis, this together with fiberglass above and below the core provide a smooth feel and control in all snow conditions.

  • Transition zone technology  :

Our "Blended Transition Zones" use complex curve geometries where both positive/negative sidecut and where rocker/camber meet to make turn initiation fluid yet the whole ski more stable controllable in all conditions.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • 2mm Camber  :

Easy turn initiation on the slope, added reactivity off piste

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  • Medium Soft Flex  :

The ski flex is carefully chosen after hour-long tests in every possible conditions. Thanks to the program Rider-Centric, the flex used is set according to the sidecut radius and the ski size in order to provide the best possible performance.

  • Micro-Cap Protection  :

In continuing their efforts to improve chip-resistance in their skis, Faction has incorporated a ‘micro’ cap where the topsheet meets the sidewall on their sandwich construction skis. Available on most models.

Binding technologies

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole holders ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other MARKER bindings. Why should touring skiers and freestylers accept any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
