Alpine Ski K2 Charger

The new piste-specific Charger by K2 is the successor of the AMP Charger. It gains 2mm at the waist and loses the metallic reinforcement. This means the ski is less demanding and suitable for a larger crowd of skiers. It also gets more versatile.

What can the K2 Charger do?

With 76mm at the waist and a speed rocker through the tip, the new Charger feels more versatile than its previous version. It feels easier to pivot, the ski likes long and fast turns. Its powerful woodcore coupled with a traditional camber makes the ski super lively and responsive, perfectly suited for skiers who tend to ride fast. Yet, the ski is pretty easy to move around and effortless. Precision is key on the Charger which should allow you to progress your carving skills quickly. And the fact that the ski is wider enables quick off-piste forays. You won’t go surfing the deep as you’re not on a freeride ski, but if it has snowed a bit overnight you should try to ski just by the side of the piste, you’ll have fun doing so. It is also a great benefit on heavier snow like spring snow or slush, the ski offers more support and holds better. An excellent choice if your main goal is to have fun on the slopes!

Who is the K2 Charger designed for?

Easier than its bigger brother the Super Charger, the Charger is a good ski for intermediate skiers who’d like to make it quick to the next level. It’s also an excellent match for advanced and expert skiers who want an easy go-to ski that they can enjoy everyday regardless of the conditons.

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  •  :

A carbon weave stretched across the fore body and tail, providing the already responsive and lively chassis with added torsional rigidity where it matters most.

  • Triaxial braiding  :

Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, that maintains the lively flex patterns of the wood core.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Speed Rocker  :

This slightly elevated tip and increased tip length provides effortless initiation and flawless transitions, while camber along the rest of the running surface delivers precision, power, and edge-hold.

Simply put, Speed Rocker offers high performance precision and edge hold on firm snow.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Interface

  • Plaque M3  :

The Marker K2/M3 is the ultimate ski/plate/binding system designed for recreational skiers alike. The binding utilizes an Compact Toe and a fixed Compact2 Heel design to generate more power, precision and quickness underfoot, loosing 20% of weight compared to the previous model.
