Jones Snowboards 2017 Aviator + Aviator Split
This is what you call a fighter jet and you will probably see it passing over your head next winter if you explore the backcountry. Don’t wait for hearing its sound, it goes faster than that. Just keep looking up and if you’re lucky you’ll see it gaping the road or jumping over that tree. The Aviator could have been NASA’s secret technology if Jones hadn’t discovered it before.
What can the Jones Aviator snowboard do?
It’s hard to say because the board can do so much we don’t have enough room here to list it all. The least we can say is that the Aviator was designed with aggressive riding in mind. It’s a directional twin loaded with pop and versatility. It looks a bit like the Jone Mountain Twin but it features a more powerful construction and a firmer flex which makes it more demanding but capable of more. Like it smaller sister, the board lets you rule the park, break rails and boxes and tear apart the biggest kickers, but it can also take you in the superpipe thanks to a stronger edge hold needed for ripping the icy walls. And who says strong edge hold says premium carving performance and the Aviator lays carved trenches on groomers like no other boards. Charge as hard as you can you won’t find the board’s limits. Never. Even in deep powder where the board floats and turns with fluidity like a surf board. If you decide to ride the Aviator, get ready for a blast, that’s the only piece of advice we can give you.
Who is the Jones Aviator snowboard designed for?
The Aviator is a stiff and compact board that likes speed a lot. Freeride, freestyle, park, backcountry or piste, it’s dealing with it all remarkably well. This means you don’t need to be a specific type of rider, all you need is a pair of strong legs and an advanced or expert technique otherwise you’ll struggle.

Fiberglass layer improve pop in nose and tail plus increases the longevity of the flex profile. This lightweight layer helps the board perform the same play on day 100 as it did on day one - precise and playful.
Like a serrated knife slicing into the snow, Magne-Traction improves your edge grip by adding multiple contact points along the running length of your board. The Flagship, Mountain Twin, and the Solution all feature a refined Magne-Traction design where the bumps are biggest between your bindings for maximum edge control and smaller outside your feet allowing you to feather your turns without catching an edge. Jeremy's Words: Why trust your life to an edge with only two contact points when Magne-Traction gives you the grip of seven points of contact! I have gotten to the bottom of countless steep, icy faces and thanked my Magne-Traction for giving me the edge control to hold on. Magne-Traction is also a key ingredient for rockered board designs. Adding rocker to your board makes it glide more smoothly, but it makes it harder to really lock into your turns and hold a solid edge. Though Magne-Traction on full-camber boards tends to feel too locked in, once I started testing different rocker designs it was clear that Magne-Traction was crucial to offset the drift typical of rocker flex patterns.
This core combines different densities of ash wood for more strength and reactivity. The board's also snappier under your feet.
Rubber edge dampening material is made with 100% recycled material.
A mutli-layered tri-axis fiberglass meshed with carbon fiber power bands. Carbon power bands dampen vibrations and keep board stable at speed.
At the far ends of the side cut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually decreassing the side cut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.
Symetric shape for freestyle, directional flex for smooth turns at full speed. Bindings are slightly setback.
Moderate 3D-base contours featuring an even balance of 4mm spoon bevel in the nose and 4mm spoon bevel in the tail. Spoon bevel starts at the rocker point.
An innovative traditionnal camber profile tweaked to offer the insane edge response of camber without the usual hang-ups. The board profile crosses over into the third dimension as the base is beveled up at the edges from the contact points of the camber to the ends of the edges where they like to hook which balances the pop and directionnal stability of camber with a looser, less-catchy feel.
"How a board glides in powder, crust, corn or any snow condition more than an inch deep is dictated by its front contact point and just past it. Next time you are in soft snow watch how much snow comes over the corner of the nose near the contact point. The billowing snow means you are plowing through it which is obviously slowing you down. By adding a blunt nose you get the float benefits of a much longer board tip without the added length or swing weight. " - Jeremy Jones.

If the Cuda looks very much alike the XV, it is no concidence. It features mostly the same techs, the main difference being the highback's profile which is higher, stiffer and more vertical in order to offer more support. This means Rossignol is releasing with the Cuda a high-end binding designed for hard charging freestylers who will appreciate the 3° canting maximising pop and enhancing comfort by offering a more natural alignment of ankles, knees and hips.
What can the Rossignol Cuda V1 Black Grey do?
On this model there is no EVA foam but gel pads instead which provides a better shock absorbtion. You can charge as hard as you can on any terrain you can find, you will blast through it with a ridiculous ease. From deep powder to freshly groomed snow through difficult conditions like crud, slush, corn or iced bumps, you'll feel like you're riding on silk. This makes the binding perfect for sending huge tricks off natural booters or assaulting rails in the park. The cushy feel makes not only landings smoother but it increases stability as well. The Cuda is also super precise and delivers mindblowing energy transmissions meaning if you need reactivity from your bindings to link park features quickly, you got it with the Cuda.
Who is the Rossignol Cuda V1 Black Grey designed for?
Way too demanding for beginners, the Cuda is a match for advanced and expert riders who know how to deal with reactivity and power. If you are used to airing table tops and ollieing over natural lips and if you're looking for high comfort and control, then the Cuda is a safe pick.
