Alpine Ski Rossignol Experience 83 TPX

Aaaand...Voilà ! The Experience series is simply awesome. Rossignol didn't want to release a range of pure powder skis impossible to ride on groomers, but wanted to open the freeriding world to more skiers. It was a tough challenge, but they made it successfully, offering a line of skis that are super efficient on powder while they still deliver performance on hardpack.

Probably the 'edgiest' ski of the line. The basalt reinforcements provide control and reactivity while the Autoturn concept (profiled sidecuts and rockered tips) allows the ski to deliver performance everywhere. And if performance on piste usually means poor skills on pow, the 83 doesn't fit in the cliché. The double rocker and the Cascade profiled tip keep you planing on the surface effortlessly.

What our testers say : The Experience 83 is a true multi-tasker. Well-behaved on piste and wild on pow, the 83mm waist will let you tackle any slopes you like. The double rocker and the waist width contribute to keep the ski floating on fresh soft snow, and the basalt reinforcements provide stability, control and power, which are the main ingredients for a successful carving session on hardpack.

Structure - Construction

  • Central Dualtec :

Combining the best features of sandwich and cap construction. The cap increases the ski's durability and facilitates rebound while the traditional sidewalls underfoot produce crisp, direct edging pressure. The benefits of the combined constructions yield smooth flex and strong edging for comfortable control.

  • Fiberglass / Wood core :

The fiberglass structure enhances flex and stiffness, increases resistance to torsion, and improves boosts on turn exits.

The wood provides stability and rebound, eliminates vibrations, and has a great durability.

  • Basalt reinforcement :

A basalt reinforcement provides an excellent dampening thanks to an optimum resistance to vibrations.

Camber type

  • Classic camber :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Auto Turn Rocker :

Rossignol's Autoturn is engineered with 70% traditional high camber underfoot while the remaining 30% of the tip and tail features low rocker. The high camber underfoot delivers power, energy, and edge grip for on-piste performance. The subtle rocker tip and tail delivers easy steering, and effortless speed control for better versatility in any terrain or snow type.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

  • TPX :

A new larger metal binding-to-plate interface increases torsional stiffness which translates to stronger performance and precision. A control beam combined with Twin VAS (Visco Material) that absorbs vibrations, facilitates rebound directing pressure to the extremities. The tool-free binding simply slides on the integrated TPX system for easy adjustment.

  • Cascade Tip :

The new Cascade Tip uses varying shapes of metal and fiberglass laminates at staggered lengths to provide a lighter extremity. The unique layered shapes control tip torsion which smoothes out turn initiation and improves full edge contact. The lighter weight tip improves the swing weight of the ski for quick and adaptable turn initiation.

  • Extended Sidecut :

Oversize takes the benefits of the aggressive sidecuts of carving skis and combines it with modern waist widths. The aggressive oversized tip & tail dimensions produces strong edging, power and precision. The wider dimension of the waist increases stability and easy turn transition. Combining big sidecut with modern waist widths produces accurate edge feel and unprecedented stability.
