Alpine Ski 4FRNT Kye 120

4FRNT introduces the new Kye series. It incorporates skis designed for free touring and derived in several widths all boasting an ultra light construction. Whether you need something for short approaches, for long tours or for shredding powder, the Kye skis are unbeatable.

What can the 4FRNT Kye 120 do?

The Kye 120 is the flagship of this new series. With its 123mm at the waist it is the widest Kye and it’s a ski that makes no compromise on performance. Featuring a tip and tail rocker the ski is eager for deep powder and steep slopes. It is a ski that rides fast and manoeuvers easily no matter the terrain. Its lively construction offers enough pop to make backcountry freestylers happy and enough support to make hard charging freeriders smily. You can slalom through the trees and gap the road with confidence. It’s pretty impossible to get bored with the Kye 120. You can even have it mounted with touring bindings if that’s your thing, its light construction allows short approaches. Finally, if the weather hasn’t been with you and powder is all gone, you can rely on the traditional camber and on the powerful construction of the ski to get good response on harder snow. Of course, the ski is not a racer and we know powder is your dope but it’s good to know that you can use it anyways.

Who is the 4FRNT Kye 120 designed for?

These massive skis are made for expert legs only. Designed to surf powder and jump off natural features, the Kye 120 are powerful and fun but they are NOT skis for beginners.

What are the main assets of the 4FRNT Kye 120?

Type of turns

  • Long turns

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

Weight of the pair in grams

  • 4800 en 182cm

Structure - Construction

  • Hi-Lite Core  :

Poplar and beech create a snappy yet lightweight composition to support wider skis in soft snow.

  • Semi-Cap Construction  :

Sandwich construction with the topsheet covering the sidewall, providing reinforcement.

  • Vibe Veil  : Vibration drastically reduces confidence. The VibeVeil elastic membrane situated in the tips of our rockered skis dramatically reduces chatter and weak edge hold, commonly the result of extended negative radius profiles in ski tips when used in varied to firm snow conditions. All 2015/16 skis featuring VibeVeil have a transparent window logo highlighting the very material used in each ski.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Rocker technology  :

Maximizes performance on deep snow. Camber is designed so that the pressure points are higher which enhances floatation and manoeuvrability on powder.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Inter-Pivot Heel  :

The stunning heel construction delivers superior holding power for free riding, featuring DIN/ISO 6-16. The Inter Pivot Heel directs the power forces in the angle of elasticity improving the holding power and reducing pre-releases.
