Alpine Ski Armada Tracer 98

Here is the Armada Tracer 98, a new wide-waisted ski featuring a dual rocker and a titanal-reinforced binding zone. The ski comes with a light construction making your ascensions as efficient as possible. It’s the brand’s most versatile ski as it allows you to reach any peak before it turns into a freeride ski and shreds like so!

What can the Armada Tracer 98 ski do?

It may not be the lightest ski in the line but it’s one of the most enjoyable on the downhill that’s for sure. It provides a very good floatation on pow and feels smooth as silk. From surfing a beautiful line on the untouched to plowing through the crud with strength, the Tracer 98 is a performer. Its 1800 grams on the weighing scale make it a little heavy but still manageable if you want to use it on tours! It delivers a solid grip and feels reliable on all terrains. It is a long turning ski (18m radius) so don’t buy it if you like short slalom-like turns on groomers!

Who’s the Armada Tracer 98 ski designed for?

It’s made for advanced up to expert skiers. This ultra versatile ski will take you anywhere and with ease and deliver the performance you expect both up and downhill.

What are the Armada Tracer 98 freetouring ski main assets?

Pretty light

Very enjoyable freeride ski

Touring ski category

  • FreeTouring  :

primarily intended for short approaches and long freeride runs. The idea is to make the ski as light as possible without compromising downhill performance.

Structure - Construction

  • Carbon Fiber Layup  :

Carbon fiber strips laid in from tip to tail to add liveliness to ski

  • Ultralight Core  :

A combination of lightweight woods throughout and hardwood laminates underfoot, the Hybrid Ultra-lite Core created the ultimate in agility and maneuverability without sacrificing any security or dampness underfoot.

  • Laminate matrix  :

We know from the core out exactly how each ski should react, so three kinds of fiberglass laminates are used in combination to deliver the exact amount of flex and torsional rigidity. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex. Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski. And tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski. The permutations of the three fiberglasses are nearly limitless and allow us to precision tune the performance of every ski we make.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • EST Freeride Rocker  :

Rockered tip and tail combined to a positive camber under the foot for a better floatation on soft snow and a better edge hold.

  • 1.7 impact edge  :

The edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight

  • Comp Series Base  :

A World Cup-inspired base that requires higher maintenance than the S7, the Comp Series pays for the extra TLC it requires in one way: Speed.

  • I-Clip Tail  :

    Skin clipping system
