Alpine Ski K2 AMP Charger

The AMP Charger has a name that suits it well. Loaded with tons of horsepower, the beast was designed to lay trenches on piste and rip groomers like a lord.

What can the K2 AMP Charger do?

The AMP Charger was designed to deliver high piste performance. Featuring a new core, new carbon reinforcements and a pretty short turning radius (17m), the ski is extremely lively and agile like a snake. Featuring the Speed Rox technology for added stability and a SpeedRocker that makes turn initiations a lot more intuitive and predictable, the ski rolls on its edge effortlessly and remains locked in no matter the speed. The AMP Charger is more than just a fancy name, it charges and makes skiers happy!

Who is the AMP Charger designed for?

You will need a bit of skills to manage the beast. Technically advanced skiers will make the most out of it. If you have that level, then you surely will have fun with it. The ski is stable and reliable, it inspires both progression and confidence.

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  • Carbon Web  :

The Mod structure is wrapped by carbon fiber. The carbon stringers are oriented with a precise angle in order to increase resistance to torsion on the secondary core. That delivers a lighter ski that will stay solid against torsion where it's needed.

  • Hybritech sidewalls  :

This wider-waisted construction combines the accuracy and power performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight and smooth turn initiation of cap construction. Offered exclusively on the Side series, Hybritech makes skis strong, accurate and powerful underfoot, while maintaining smooth initiation and easy exits from turns.

  • Poplar/Paulownia core  :

K2's Adventure skis use an Aspen/Paulownia blend core. Lower-density Aspen and even lighter-weight Paulownia allow us to reduce the weight that results from the added surface area of wider skis. In addition, the Bio Core is 15% lighter than the fir/aspen blend traditional in our all-mountain skis.

  • RoX Technology  :

Until the RoX, high performance skis designed for hard snow were very stiff and sturdy, to ensure an optimum edge grip. The stiffness prevented the ski from being forgiving and made it difficult to initiate turns.

By focusing on Speed Rocker benefits combined to specific MOD geometries and Carbon Web position, K2 created the RoX technology, the new standard for their skis designed for hard snow. It provides an incredible edge hold while turns are much easier to initiate.

  • Metal Laminate Technology  :

Built with two sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski, metal-laminate skis are the highest performing and most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, a metal laminate construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and Titanal above and below the wood core. Metal-laminates provide dampened, accurate, unshakable performance ideal for expert-level skiers.

  • Mod Technology  :

High-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected.

Rocker - Camber

  • Speed Rocker  :

This slightly elevated tip and increased tip length provides effortless initiation and flawless transitions, while camber along the rest of the running surface delivers precision, power, and edge-hold.

Simply put, Speed Rocker offers high performance precision and edge hold on firm snow.

Interface

  • K2/Marker MXC System  :

The brand new binding system K2/Marker MXC is 54% wider than the MX system and features the Triple Pivot toe and the Inter Pivot heel, which allows to gain precision and control with wide-waisted all-mountain skis. The MXC binding system features zinc supports running all the way to the edge of the ski which enhances the energy transfers and the edge grip. On top of being wider, this binding is 10% lighter thanks to a 12% lower height.

"These are purchased to replace GS race skis my 15 year old son had outgrown. He entered the GS race at Font Romeu on these skis and won! He says they turn really well and cope with everything from ice to powder with ease."
