Alpine Ski Movement Fly Swatter

The Fly series by Movement returns for another season as if they hadn’t broken the mountain enough last year. Fly skis are the lords of the backcountry, tested and proven to be awesome by Movement’s Pro team. All they want is deep powder, cornices and natural kickers. This is how they best express.

What can the Movement Fly Swatter do?

The Fly Swatter is not a ski you can use every day, unless you live in Alaska or you have a helicopter that takes you where it’s been snowing every day. So, you can’t use it every day, but when you can, you get your mind blown. With 125mm at the waist, needless to say you’re not skiing anymore, you’re surfing. The ski comes with oversized tip and tail rockers and sidecuts turning it into a snow plower. The ski has so much power in the backcountry that you can assault the steepest slopes with a cup of coffee in one hand and a camera in the other and feel confident about it. Jokes apart, the Swatter is a performer and it knows how to land tricks off cornices. Its 18m turning radius makes the ski agile and more playful than you’d expect. You can easily make your way through the trees without hitting one. But where the Swatter most surprised us was on groomed snow. You wouldn’t expect from a 125mm waisted ski a nicely carved turns would you? Well, know the the Swatter is not like others. If you ask correctly, it will do it.

Who is the Movement Fly Swatter designed for?

The Swatter is for expert riders who like to defy the laws of gravity. It’s a huge ski, it looks impressive and it delivers impressive performance on powder. If you know how to use it, you’ll have a blast.

Structure - Construction

  • Construction CTS performance Plus
  • Dynamic Light Tri-Axial + Carbon  :

This structure delivers a stiff flex and resists to torsion. It is lighter than the standard tri-axial. The addition of carbon makes the ski even more reactive.

  • VA-TECH  :

The VATECH system is a layer of vibration-dampening rubber inserted under the binding, for better edge grip and a smoother ride. The NOSE VATECH system replaces the ABS plate on skis with a tip wider than 135 mm. This rubber layer smoothes the ride and dampens vibration of extra-wide tips.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  • P-Tex base 4000 1.3mm  :

High density base for a better performance and a longer lasting base.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Inter-Pivot Heel  :

The stunning heel construction delivers superior holding power for free riding, featuring DIN/ISO 6-16. The Inter Pivot Heel directs the power forces in the angle of elasticity improving the holding power and reducing pre-releases.
