Alpine Ski Rossignol Experience 88 Basalt Open

Well, it seems that the Air tip technology developped in 2014 for the Soul 7 and Super 7 was successful. Rossignol is now using it on its entire all-mountain lineup. That includes the Experience series for men and the Temptation series for women. The idea is to provide skiers with versatile skis combining ease of use and all-terrain performance.

The Experience 88 may very well be the most versatile ski within the Experience series, suited for most skiers out there. Its 88mm waist feels as comfortable on hard snow than on pow. The ski was designed to be precise and reactive on pistes and yet floaty and playful off piste. That's exactly how it works. No surprises.

What our testers say : The Experience 88 was and remains a safe pick if you like riding through the whole mountain. And like wine, it gets better with time. On hard snow the ski works like a dream and delivers excellent stability and manoeuverability. But the real deal comes on powder where the ski rides and floats with a ridiculous ease. You get this intense feel of freedom that's so pleasurable. Great stuff, highly recommended.

Type of turns

  • Multi-turns

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  • Air Tip  : A Patented Technology exclusive to Rossignol! The tip is air filled for maximum lightness and constructed to retain maximum torsional rigidity. The ski's weight is redistributed, freeing the tip and tail of the ski and providing greater ease, security and versatility. The fact that the center of gravity is closer to the center of the ski concentrates strength under the skier's feet. THE ROCKER REVOLUTION IS HERE!!!
  • Minicap Sandwich  :

Ultra durable construction built with wood cores, 30 degree sidewalls, fiberglass and high-tech laminates. The Mini Cap ROSSITOP to strengthens the top of the ski and is resistant to chipping for increased durability. The sidewalls of the skis are angled at a 30° incline to improve swing weight, reduce the overall weight of the ski, and enhance edging and durability.

  • Fiberglass / Wood core  :

The fiberglass structure enhances flex and stiffness, increases resistance to torsion, and improves boosts on turn exits.

The wood provides stability and rebound, eliminates vibrations, and has a great durability.

  • Basalt reinforcement  :

A basalt reinforcement provides an excellent dampening thanks to an optimum resistance to vibrations.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Auto Turn Rocker  :

Rossignol's Autoturn is engineered with 70% traditional high camber underfoot while the remaining 30% of the tip and tail features low rocker. The high camber underfoot delivers power, energy, and edge grip for on-piste performance. The subtle rocker tip and tail delivers easy steering, and effortless speed control for better versatility in any terrain or snow type.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  • Extended Sidecut  :

Oversize takes the benefits of the aggressive sidecuts of carving skis and combines it with modern waist widths. The aggressive oversized tip & tail dimensions produces strong edging, power and precision. The wider dimension of the waist increases stability and easy turn transition. Combining big sidecut with modern waist widths produces accurate edge feel and unprecedented stability.
