Touring ski boot Atomic Backland Carbon Black Orange

Size information : We recommend to pick one size up from your normal shoe size.

All Backland boots are not compatible with frame bindings (i.e. Atomic Tracker, Marker Tour 12, etc), not with hybrid bindings that use a combination of pin-style toe and alpine-style heel (i.e. Marker Kingpin).

Atomic is striking hard with the new Backland boots. Every tourer is going to be happy with such a thing on his feet. The boots are ultra light and deliver comfort and performance all day.

What can the Atomic Backland Carbon do?

The new Backland Carbon is the sturdiest boot in the line. Its ultra light constuction weighs only 1161g (per boot) and ensures effortless climbing with optimal downhill performance.  The Free/Lock 2.0 system allows a more natural walking and skiing thanks to a greater mobility when the cuff is unlocked (74° of travel). Atomic also worked on the friction created when the cuff rotates on the shell. They inserted polymer rings to diminish the friction and to offer a more fluid glide. Finally, in terms of ergonomy, the manufacturer utilises features that have been proven efficient. You get an Ultralon liner providing lightweight and heat retention, and a heatmoldable shell.  The Backland Carbon was made for tourers who spend hours in their boots and need ultimate comfort from them.

Who is the Atomic Backland Carbon designed for?

Every tourer will appreciate the Backland Carbon. The boot is incredibly light and feels effortless to carry uphill. Skiers who tour for several days will get on well with the boot, it is extremely comfortable and it will probably change the way you look at ski boots.

What are the main assets of the Atomic Backland Carbon?

Ultra light
Great mobility on walk mode

Size Adjuster:

This model is sold with a pair of inserts of adjustment. When this insert is placed under the internal sole, the shoe loses exactly half a size. The skiers who need a whole size can thus buy a shoe a half-size above and make the adjustment themselves.

Shell and Cuff

  • Carbon Spine  :

Collar and shell being reinforced with carbon, it provides faster response and increases power transmission while retaining the sensation in the front part of the shoe.

  • Grilamid shell  :

Hyper light material that allows to reduce the thickness and consequently the weight of the boot without compromising the structural strength. High resistance to low temperatures and maximum flexibility.

  • Frictionless Pivot  :

This pivot endowed with polymer rings allows the collar to move back and forward on a natural way without friction offering fluid walks and hikes.

  • Quick Click tongue  :

This simple system allows to remove the tongue for the ascent, then quickly put a more or less stiff tongue back to go downhill.

  • Memory Fit  :

With the Memory Fit process, the three elements of the boot can adapt and mold itself to the entire shape of the foot (the shell, the collar, the inner boot). The expansion can go up to 6mm in total around the front of the foot and 10mm in total around the ankle. The result: a complete and permanent anatomical fit. This one is harden with the Memolink, a plastic additive that increases the moulding characteristics and extensibility of the plastics.

  • ASY Pro Liner  :

All our inner boots offer an asymmetrical construction made of good quality materials, with a tongue, a toe area and an asymmetrical collar shape. It is the most anatomical construction of the market offering the best holding in downhill.

  • Platinum liner  :

This inner boot is made with perforated and waterproof fabrics that allow it to evacuate the heat and the humidity to keep the foot dry, warm and avoid blisters. It is hand washable to avoid the emergence of bad smell without and not to damage the inner boot. On top of that, it is heatmoladble for a customized fit on specific areas especially around the calf, the ankle and the tongue for optimum downhill performances. Built with super light Ultralon foam, it only weighs 229g.

  • 30mm super light strap.  :

The strap delivers a complementary hold to the buckles, it increases the transmission sensations of the shin.

  • 7000 alu buckle

  • Cross Lace  :

3-point lacing system that wraps the foot and holds perfectly

  • Skywalk Outsole  :

Skywalk rubber sole for secure grip on cliff edges and helicopter skids.

  • Free/Lock 2.0 system  :

74° of cuff travel for easy ascents and an adjustable forward lean from 13 to 15° for the downhill

  • Touring Standard  :

The Touring grip ends are ISO 9523 certified. They offers a notched rubber sole delivering a more natural way of walking increasing the grip on slippery surfaces. The ISO 9523 certified boots are compatible with the traditional DIN alpine bindings. Even if you can clip them on, the triggering value can change. Make sure that the touring bindings can be associated with ISO 9523 certified ski boots.

  • Touring bindings / TLT exclusively  :

In order to lighten and ease the hike thanks to the inclined soles, those boots are not endowed with traditional ends on the front and on the back, needed to be used with the alpine Multi Norm Certified and the ski touring bindings. Therefor those boots are exclusively compatible with TLT inserts with front and back bindings inserts.
