This Spitfire 2.1 boot looks impressive, and if you read its specs carefully, it gets incredible. The Spitfire 2.1 works like a Formula 1 on the ascents. Its ultra light construction (2,5 lbs in 27,5) makes the boot effortless to bring up to the peak. It only features 2 buckles but that’s enough to provide a solid ankle hold. The buckle located on the top of the cuff acts as a power strap. The upper part of the boot is made of a mix of carbon fibre and grilamid to deliver a smooth and responsive flex. Add to this the new Speedfire ski/walk system that offers a 68° cuff travel and you get a touring ski boot which is halfway between the professional models and the conventional touring ones.

What can the La Sportiva Spitfire 2.1 touring ski boot do?

You want to climb the mountain and reach the highest summits in record time? All you have to do is slide your foot in this Spitfire 2.1. You’ll feel like you’re flying when climbing up to the peak and you’ll reach it way before anybody else. Red Bull, better watch out, La Sportiva is here! Climbing quickly is a thing but you’ll have to run down the mountain at some point. Unexpectedly, the Spitfire 2.1 also excels on the downhill. It offers excellent precision, 5-star hold and powerful energy transmissions. In short, it has everything to have fun and face all the terrains with confidence. The only downside we could point out is the outsole thickness. It’s very thin and some skiers may feel the terrain too much, but it doesn’t take the incredible performance away from this boot.

Who’s the La Sportiva Spitfire 2.1 touring ski boot designed for?

It’s made for skiers with medium to narrow feet. If you’re an expert tourer looking for a lightweight boot offering high performance, there is no time to waste, the Spitfire is for you.

What are the La Sportiva Spitfire 2.1 touring ski boot main assets?

Stiff on downhills

Great cuff travel on walk mode

Light touring boot

"I have a narrow foot with quite low volume, and based on the fit of my La Sportiva Trango Cube mountaineering boots I had a good feeling these boots would fit me well. As it turns out they are the most comfortable ski boot I have ever tried on! Straight out of the box they were good, but after adding a custom foot bed and thermo fitting the liner they are incredibly comfortable. They are easy to get in and out of, thanks to the fully articulating tongue. I find it best to put the liner on your foot first then step in to the shell, to do the reverse when taking them off, you are probably going to want everything to air out over night anyway so having the boot and liner separate is a bonus.Switching between ski and walk mode is super easy, for short sections of walking just undo the top clasp, you wont be able to pull your trousers over it like this but its quite convenient. On longer sections undo the top clasp, pull the speed strap loose and re position the speed strap at the red marking, then close the clasp, you can then pull your trousers back down over the boot.Switching back to ski mode is also very easy, reverse the process but whilst tightening the clasp flex your leg forward in the boot so that the "vertebra" bar locates on its pin then push the clasp home.In walk mode the range of movement is plenty big enough, walking on foot for some distance should be quite comfortable and skinning should be a pleasure"
