AMPLID 2016 - EGO TRIP EVOLUTION

AMPLID 2016 - EGO TRIP EVOLUTION

Alpine Ski Amplid Ego Trip Evolution

Amplid are bringing back their line of touring skis for 2016 and they are improving them at the same time to make them lighter than you thought possible. Just try venturing with Amplid skis on your feet and you will see the world under a new light.

What can the Amplid Ego Trip Evolution do?

Other touring ski makers will get jealous this winter, the Ego Trip Evolution might very well put them in the shade. Its ex full poplar woodcore is replaced by a new blend of paulownia and balsa woods enhancing lightweight, each ski being 250 gramms lighter bringing the total weight of one ski to 1,500 gramms. This means climbing with it generates less fatigue and allows you to tour further in the mountain and reach better spots. Its 95mm waist and its huge rockered tip ensure support and floatation on soft snow and make the ski easy to manoeuver. Amplid even reinforced the Ego Trip Evolution with an aluminium insert to make sure the skins stay on the ski even if the glue doesn’t stick so well. There is one thing we can state with confidence, the ski is a serious contender for the top spot.

Who is the Amplid Ego Trip Evolution designed for?

We recommend it to freeride-oriented tourers with an advanced or expert level who want a light ski for the uphill bits of the tour and a ski that excels on the downhill.

What are the main assets of the Amplid Ego Trip Evolution?

Lightweight

Floatation

Reinforced skin inserts

Structure - Construction

  • BBp core Technology  :

Woodcore made of paulownia and balsa for the weight and birch for the flex.

  • Doomsday Bend  : Believe it or not, even glass fibres have a degree of elasticity. Using pre-stretched fibres in our laminates means you can be sure that your shred will never feel lifeless or lack pop throughout its life.
  • Hexo2 Technology  :

Combination of laminates and honeycomb structures with just enough glue for performance and lightweight.

  • Jekyll & Hyde Geometry  :

Max effective edge and square centimetres in a min board or ski length. Experimenting with complete shaping (outline, camber and core profile together) in the lab and on the mountain has resulted in some crazy discoveries: Unsinkable but nimble powder boards, sawn-off jib decks with huge pop and edge-hold and the ultimate all-mountain ski recipe. With Jekyll and Hide Geometry appearances can be deceiving.

  • Nukeproof Roundtop  :

Botox for your skis: To protect the topsheet from aging, our latest ski construction offers the best solution against chipping: Thanks to our 3D mould the PE foil gets welded over a small radius onto the sidewall.

  • Tailbar with machined « Skin ding »  : For easier use fo the skins

  • Sintered 7.2k Lightspeed GE Base

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
