Alpine Ski Armada Norwalk

True powder monster, this athletic ski is as strong as powerful. The Norwalk is endowed with a classic tail  to be more stable and to deliver great acceleration coming out of turns. If Armada engineers shaped the Norwalk  like an all-mountain ski, it offers an ultra light Hybrid core bringing the cushioning and agility abilities of the light wood and the stiffness of the strong laminated wood underfoot. With a cocktail that explosive, you will be armed to the teeth to attack any faces of the mountain.

What can the Armada Norwalk ski do?

This unidirectional mid fat ski excels on all terrains. You can engage in any steeps, the Norwalk ensures a total control in any situations. This model is really stiff and requires a good physical condition to be manoeuvred on the most technical terrains. Its wide tip rocker and waist provide the needed floatation to have fun in deep and charge hard and fast for epic freeride sessions. The Norwalk smashes everything on its path, drop cliffs, cornices, pillows, slalom between the trees and the rocks, it will take you anywhere. It is also surprising on the slopes, super versatile ski, you can ride long and short radius turns according to the run and the mood. It stays stable and delivers great carving sensations and kick out of turns.

Who is the Armada Norwalk ski designed for?

You are an athletic skier, powerful with good skills? The Norwalk  is the freeride all-mountain that you have been expected. As playful as stiff, you can ride on every faces of the mountain with peace of mind.

Type of turns

  • Multi-turns

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  • AR50 Sidewalls  :

ABS sidewall meets cap construction – the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in enhanced edgehold and significantly lower swing and overall weight.

  • Ultralight Core  :

A combination of lightweight woods throughout and hardwood laminates underfoot, the Hybrid Ultra-lite Core created the ultimate in agility and maneuverability without sacrificing any security or dampness underfoot.

  • Laminate matrix  :

We know from the core out exactly how each ski should react, so three kinds of fiberglass laminates are used in combination to deliver the exact amount of flex and torsional rigidity. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex. Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski. And tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski. The permutations of the three fiberglasses are nearly limitless and allow us to precision tune the performance of every ski we make.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • EST All Mtn Rocker  :

A rockered tip but no rocker in the tail and a positive camber under the foot. That guarantees a good floatation on powder and a good grip on hardpack.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

  • 1.7 impact edge  :

The edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight

  • Comp Series Base  :

A World Cup-inspired base that requires higher maintenance than the S7, the Comp Series pays for the extra TLC it requires in one way: Speed.

Binding technologies

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
