Alpine Ski Atomic Backland FR 102

There are some changes at Atomic this season with this new freerando ski: the Backland FR 102, an ultra modern versatile ski that replaces the old Automatic 102. Lighter thanks to a new carbon structure and a modern wood core, this ski is also hyper trendy with a top sheet that reminds of the famous Backland Bent Chetler.

What can the Atomic Backland FR 102 ski do?

Pretty hard to identify this ski because it excels in so many domains and on every faces of the mountains. Alpine ski really pleasant on the slopes, the Backland FR 102 offers a good grip and kick out of turns. With its modern shape, it might lack a bit of accuracy on really hard snow. On the other side, it is perfect on softer snow at the end of the day. Astounding in freeride, the massive tip rocker delivers an insane floatation in powder and crud snow. You can lay trenches in deep, drop cornices and cliffs, you will go nuts in backcountry with the Atomic Backland FR 102. The adventurers could mount freerando bindings to seek virgin spots anywhere on the mountain. Thanks to the carbon fiber and its wood core, this light ski will take you far and high.

Who is the Atomic Backland FR 102 ski designed for?

This freerando ski will encounter a great success this winter, accessible to a wide public and offering so many possibilities. Intermediate and confirmed riders will have a blast with the Atomic Backland FR 102. You are looking for a single pair of touring ski, to tackle the slopes and to push the limits in freeride, you can trust the Backland FR 102, you won’t be disappointed.

Structure - Construction

  • Carbon Reinforced  :

  • RENU Step Down Sidewall  :

In the heart of the ski there are different materials and essentially different kinds of wood that will determinate the behaviour of the ski. This poplar wood core is ideal for the powder, the all-mountain ski and the touring ski requiring strength and lightness.

  • Step down sidewall  :

the sidewalls influence the shock absorption and the energy transmission. Stable sidewalls, light, durable and symmetrical on each side.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.
