Alpine Ski Black Crows Nocta

To blow their 10th candle, Black Crows hit hard and redesigned the entire Nocta serie, the most big mountain of the 2016/2017 collection. For the first time the Nocta is endowed with a reversed camber on the entire length. Imagine a ski with a 122mm waist and with a dual tip and tail rocker. Here is a powder monster tamed to kill everything on its path on big powder days. Black Crows engineers even found the way to reduce the weight thanks to the paulownia and poplar core, more modern than ever that propels the 2017 Nocta among the lightest fat freeride skis on the market.

What can the Black Crows Nocta ski do?

The new banana shape of the Nocta is a double-edged innovation. On one side, it boosts the performances and the handiness in deep where you float like on a surf and never touch the bottom; but on the other side, the integral rocker is not an asset on groomed runs. You can ski on the slopes to go down the hill and go back to the village or grab a chairlift but that’s about it. The 26m radius predestines it to long turns and makes the ski quite tricky to ride on the slopes. The Nocta is made to smash powder and nothing else, astounding in any powder-filled steeps where it provides an insane buoyancy and playfulness.

Who is the Black Crows Nocta ski designed for?

This new ski is designed for expert riders looking for extra wide blades to shred pow all day long. To ride those blades you definitely need great skills and a good physical conditions. What a ski!

What are the main assets of the Black Crows Nocta ski?

Buoyancy in powder

Structure - Construction

  • Laminated woodcore  :

Woodcores have been used in the ski industry for ages. Thanks to its mechanical properties, its durability and the amount of possible combinations in terms of flex and torsion, wood remains the reference for top-of-range cores. They provide stability, rebounce, eliminate vibrations, and are extremely durable.

  • Semi Cap  :

Semi-capped sidewalls are a good way to unify the sides with the top of the ski and maintain the strength of vertical sidewalls.

    Facilitates rotation.

Camber type

  • Reverse camber  :

Its name says it all. The camber is reversed for an optimum manoeuvrability, and a playful freestyle feel. It's generally the camber you'll find on freeride skis.

Technology

  • Double Beak  :

Classic camber & double rocker: all-terrain, float, endurance, adaptability.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.
