Alpine Ski Black Diamond Carbon Aspect

Before entering the skiing industry, Black Diamond built its notoriety through mountain sports and climbing. So when they began designing touring skis, they knew how important the weight of the equipment was. More lightweight, more performance, these were on focus for Black D. when they designed the Carbon series.

The Carbon Aspect was built for the steeps. Making no compromise whatsoever, its PrePreg composite construction and its paulownia woodcore makes it light as air while the carbon incorporated provides performance and reactivity. Its 90mm underfoot platform offers an enjoyable floatation on powder while its specific geometry ensures hardpack performance making this ski as versatile as a chameleon.

What our testers say : The Carbon Aspect is similar to the Aspect but it's got a lighter body and shall bond easily with light or small skiers looking for an effortless touring partner. The ski offers the same skiability as its brother withthe same comfortable damp feel. A great pick for advanced and expert level skiers.

Note: the sale of this item implies a personalisation of the product (drilling the skis). The right of cancellation cannot be exercised on these products, according to the Article L121-20-2 of the French Consumer Code. No refund or exchange will be accepted.

Structure - Construction

  • Racing Edge  :

Racing edges for a better grip.

  • Pre-preg fibreglass  :

This technology allows to control precisely the amount of epoxy resin used in each ski and helps maximising durability and stiffness. You get a lighter ski with the same durability, precision and skaibility.

  • Flat Sandwich  :

This innovative construction offers the best weight to performance ratio, suited for tourers.

  • Paulownia core  :

Light wood that grows fast and is easily renewable. Same resistance as poplar and same weight as balsa.

  • Carbon fibre reinforcement

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Rocker  :

Rocker isn't designed only for powder anymore. It is a versatile tool helping on turn inititations, soft turns, and changing radius. The rocker provides wide skis with agility, and narrow skis with floatation. Depending on how the rocker rises, the ski delivers different performance. Black Diamond has sorted their skis into 3 categories : Rocker, Semi-Rocker and Traditional.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

  • P-Tex 4000 base  :

High speed base with stone finish, this provides the best compromise of durabilty, glide and maintenance.

  • Skin Lock  :

    Slot for touring skins.

Binding technologies

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
