Alpine Ski Black Diamond Link 95

Black Diamond finally unveil their free touring line of skis which bridges the gap between freeriding and touring. Their name: the Link. The series incorporates 3 skis each having a specific width. Choose the one that best suits you and go shred!

What can the Black Diamond Link 95 do?

This new ski is going to get the freetourers on their feet. It comes with a versatile 95mm platform which is ideally suited for skiing any terrain you might encounter on the mountain. The Link 95 can easily explore deep powder thanks to its rockered profile keeping the ski afloat effortlessly. The ski feels very agile as well and allows straight lines as well as slaloms through the trees. There is literally no limits to its power and the more trust you’ll put in the ski the further it’ll take you. But as if being versatile and fun wasn’t enough, the ski also excels at climbing mountains. It features an ultra-light construction with a paulownia woodcore making the uphill bits of your tour a breeze. Heavy skiers may find the ski a little too soft and expert tourers  will probably say it’s too heavy, but for the vast majority of skiers who want lightweight and skiability packed in the same ski, the Link 95 is what you need.

Who is the Black Diamond Link 95 designed for?

Best suited for freetourers with an intermediate or advanced level, the ski offers consistent performance up and downhill. Not too wide, not too narrow, you won’t wear yourself out when skinning up and will enjoy the descent on a comfortable performer.

Structure - Construction

  • 3D Sandwich  :

The 3D Sandwich technology offers the best geometry possible to help you on demanding torsion.

  • Pre-preg fibreglass  :

This technology allows to control precisely the amount of epoxy resin used in each ski and helps maximising durability and stiffness. You get a lighter ski with the same durability, precision and skaibility.

  • Paulownia core  :

Light wood that grows fast and is easily renewable. Same resistance as poplar and same weight as balsa.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Rocker  :

Rocker isn't designed only for powder anymore. It is a versatile tool helping on turn inititations, soft turns, and changing radius. The rocker provides wide skis with agility, and narrow skis with floatation. Depending on how the rocker rises, the ski delivers different performance. Black Diamond has sorted their skis into 3 categories : Rocker, Semi-Rocker and Traditional.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

  • Semi rockered tail  :

the rocker rises between 151 and 275mm.

Various

  • Skin Lock  :

Binding technologies

  • Climbing Aid  :

The titanium climbing aid offers two positions with 7° and 13° which can easily be accessed with the ski pole, even in an unstable standing position. Integrated elastomer paddings dampen the impact reducing the irritating traditional “clack” and allow more comfortable hiking.

  • Touring mode  :

The patented, ergonomically shaped lever under the boot allows comfortable opening and closing. The position prevents the binding from unwanted release and provides unparalleled security against an undesired “telemark“ situation.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole holders ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other MARKER bindings. Why should touring skiers and freestylers accept any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
