H16 DYNASTAR CHAM 2.0

Présentation de la gamme de ski 2016 CHAM 2.0 de chez DYNASTAR, par Baptiste conseiller ski chez Glisshop.com

Alpine Ski Dynastar Cham 2.0 97

Based in Chamonix, Dynastar’s engineers know better than anyone else that powder isn’t always there so they worked on making freeride skis that could perform on hard snow as well as on powder. And if you like it when the path points uphill, you may as well mount touring bindings on them, they are ultra light!

What can the Dynastar Cham 2.0 97 do?

If we had to pick one ski that best represents Dynastar, it would probably be the Cham 97. Almost as iconic as the brand, the ski has set the bar higher than many freeride skis in the industry and has completely redefined versatility and user-friendliness. The 2016 version has been seriously upgraded with a new rockered tail for better accessibility. They also put the ski on a radical diet which allows it to come back lighter than last year. It is almost too good to be true. Designed to offer optimal skiability on all terrains in all snow conditions, the Cham 97 is a crowd pleaser. Destroying the entire mountain has never been so delightful. Its huge rockered tip delivers high breaking power on crud and keeps the ski planing on powder’s surface as if it was natural. The 97mm waist offers floatation and support without compromising energy transitions on hard snow. Try carving an arc on groomers and you will see. It is absolutely stunning, it feels almost like a piste specific ski. The edges bite hard into the snow and railing a turn is really enjoyable. This Cham 2.0 97 is a playful and reliable partner that’s got tons of personnality. You can even mount touring bindings on it and discover the best spots hidden from the crowd.

Who is the Dynastar Cham 2.0 97 designed for?

We recommend the ski to advanced skiers seeking an effortless, playful and versatile ski that will deliver performance anywhere on the mountain. No need to check on the forecast or snow conditions in the morning, you got the ski that rules them all.

What are the main assets of the Dynastar Cham 2.0 97?

Floatability
Edge control
Playfulness
Versatility

Structure - Construction

  • Paulownia Wood Core  :

Paulownia is very light, 25% lighter than other skis. Dynastar combines this wood withfibres developped by the racing department to ensure optimal skiability and performance.

  • Powder profile  :

The powder profile is a special geometry used for off-piste skis. It consists of a 5-point sidecut to provide excellent grip on compact snow combined with excellent handling in powder. The long tip rocker allows very good float while the slight tail rocker creates a ski that feels lively on any kind of terrain.

  • Sandwich Structure  :

SANDWICH constructions feature a layering of core materials (wood, fiberglass, metal, etc) and full-length vertical sidewalls to deliver optimized edge grip, precision, balance, and power.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Rocker Tip/Tail  :

Tip and tail very progressive. Both tips rise above the snow which allows an unbeatable floatation. The reduced running length of the edge provides easy pivoting and turning. Double-rocker makes big skis a lot easier to handle.

Various

  • Binding reinforcement  :

Skis are reinforced in the binding area in order to stick with the norm ISA 8364. Skis are compatible with any binding. Alpine, touring, low tech, telemark. The only condition is that the screws used must be normed.

  • Light  :

The ski benefits from Dynastar's know-how in high alpine skiing, they make light skis with no compromise on performance.

Touring Binding Marker Baron 13 EPF 110 mm Black White Silver

As the lighter cousin to the Duke with a DIN setting up 13, the Baron has earned its stripes as a favorite amongst big mountain, backcountry enthusiasts. Extended Power Frame (EPF), with its extra-wide connection to the ski, gives it the structure needed to power today's wider skis through any snow conditions, whether inside or outside the resort. The 10 mm wider drilling pattern blasts the Baron into a new stratosphere of power, with a DIN setting up 13. In addition the Baron 13 EPF also comes with Sole.ID and the easy-to-handle climbing aid.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Inter-Pivot Heel  :

The stunning heel construction delivers superior holding power for free riding, featuring DIN/ISO 6-16. The Inter Pivot Heel directs the power forces in the angle of elasticity improving the holding power and reducing pre-releases.

A good ski for powder and on the piste

4.0 / 5 collected by Glisshop

- Tuesday 5 April 2016

The 97s really come alive on the soft stuff, whether that is off piste, powder, or the spring powder when it gets warm. These are the conditions they were made for and they are great fun. They are pretty easy to ride too, even on piste. However they're not the most responsive when conditions get hard and therefore take a bit more work. If I was taking one set of skis for a week in Europe I wouldn't choose these unless I was confident it was going to snow. If it does snow though, these babies could give you the best day ever.
