Alpine Ski Dynastar Neva 78

The all-mountain Neva series returns for 2015 with lots of upgrades. The skis feature a new technology named S4, designed specifically for women. S4 stands for Stance, Sidecut, Sidewall and Superlight. The idea was to design lightweight skis offering all-terrain performance without being too demanding.

The Neva 78 was made to be easy. It may not be as floaty as its bigger brother, but it's much more manoeuverable and easy. The tip and tail rockers enhance the pivot and makes skiing very intuitive, perfect for unexperienced skiers who need a partner for venturing through their first powder. The paulownia woodcore, 25% lighter than traditional cores, offers added buoyancy and generates less muscular fatigue.

What our testers say : Highly versatil women ski, easy to use and suited for any skier from beginner to intermediate, looking for a ski they can ride every day whatever the snow conditions. Completely effortless and predictable, it's a cruising weapon that delivers the mellowest feel on the slopes. We recommend it to skiers who need extra confidence on their skis, with a sweet and stable feel.

Structure - Construction

  • Lightcore  :

A blend of wood and acrylic, makes the Alti range construction lightweight, tough and high-performing during descent.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

  • Infinity Profile  :

Women specific technology making the skis more agile with a better secure feel. On flat ground, the ski pivots effortlessly thanks to the rocker. When you are carving, the Infinity Profile lets the full running length of the edge grip onto the snow for more control.

  • S4 Balance Technology  :

    - Stance : Compliments a woman's physiology by tailoring stance angles for every performance level, providing increased comfort, more efficient power transfer and reduced fatigue.

    - Sidecuts : A women-specific sidecut that flares progressively through the ski's forebody to the tip, delivering intuitive carving performance for every skier level. A moderate sidecut through most of the ski allows smooth pivoting and easy steering for effortless control. The progressively flared tip engages quickly to deliver powerful carved turns with full-length edge grip.

    - Sidewalls : Vertical sidewalls used in specific lengths and positions along the ski help tailor performance to every skier level.

    - Superlight : Lighter skis without compromising on performance, thanks to a paulownia wood core and the Xpress binding which reduces the weight by 700 g per pair.

Binding technologies

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.

I was looking for a lightweight all mountain ski for my daughter aged 15 years and these are perfect, she is only small around 5ft and the shorter length, lightweight was good. She loved them and skied both on piste and in deep powder off piste with no problems, highly recommended especially at Gliss prices.
