Alpine Ski Faction Chapter 106

Faction revisited the Chapter 106 this year: a new poplar-beech wood core, a blue finition and a shorter tip. Here are the main transformations of this twin tip freeride ski for a perfect versatility. You haven’t tried it yet? Don’t wait anymore.

What can the Faction Chapter 106  ski do?

As said in the name , this fat freeride has a 106mm waist to jump and float in deep like a surf. If the width of the ski is a major asset to ride in powder, its double rocker reinforces its buoyancy abilities. The Chapter 106 is shaped with a 5 points sidecut and allow you to do  quick turns with an incredible fluidity in deep and soft snow, or lay big trenches at Mach 2. The ski stays stable whatever happens, pretty useful on technical terrains. Its light construction allow you to mount it with touring bindings and access virgin steeps loaded with fresh pow.

Who is the Faction Chapter 106 ski designed for?

Like every fat ski, this freeride ski is developed for confirmed to expert skiers. Better have skills and good  physical conditions not to wear yourself out after the first run.

What are the main assets of the  Faction Chapter 106 ski ?

Playful

Structure - Construction

  • Poplar & Ash Core  :

A poplar core with ash "stringers" is used for their complimentary characteristics of dampness and responsiveness. Used on the bulk of the skis, this together with fiberglass above and below the core provide a smooth feel and control in all snow conditions.

  • Sandwich Construction  :

    Sandwich construction

  • Transition zone technology  :

Our "Blended Transition Zones" use complex curve geometries where both positive/negative sidecut and where rocker/camber meet to make turn initiation fluid yet the whole ski more stable controllable in all conditions.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • 10/200mm Tip Rocker  :

Skis featuring a rockered tip and a traditional or flat camber float better on soft snow and deliver goof performance on groomers.

    10mm rise on a 200mm length.

  • 5/150 Tail Rocker  :

5mm Rocker though 150mm in the tail

  • 2mm Camber  :

Easy turn initiation on the slope, added reactivity off piste

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  •  :

In continuing their efforts to improve chip-resistance in their skis, Faction has incorporated a ‘micro’ cap where the topsheet meets the sidewall on their sandwich construction skis. Available on most models.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
