Alpine Ski Faction Nine5

Faction have given a good shake to their Standard series which incorporates their all-mountain lineup. The Nine5 is part of this revolution. Forget about the old fibreglass reinforcement, not strong enough. Faction replaced it with titanal and they went through some profile updates as well with a shorter tail rocker. As you can see, the new Nine5 has a lot to offer.

What can the Faction Nine5 ski do?

The new Nine5 is a lot more powerful. Faction upgraded it into a lively and responsive all-mountain ski suitable for any condition. It floats on deep powder with a ridiculous ease and lets you crank up the speed as you like. The 5-point sidecuts enhance the agility and make the ski ultra manoeuvrable. From long GS-like arcs to short turns through the trees, you decide, the ski obeys. It plows through crud and destroys any obstacle that lies on the way. The flatter tail gives the ski more character with a stronger acceleration out of turns which allows for hard snow ripping if you like. Off piste, on piste, it doesn’t really matter. In all cases the ski feels stable and powerful. The Nine5 is the definition of versatility. You can even mount touring bindings on it if you like to skin up from time to time and access untouched and unknown spots hidden from the crowd.

Who is the Faction Nine5 ski designed for?

The Nine5 is best suited for advanced or expert skiers who have the technical skills required to manage the beast. Truly powerful, it is not going to be gentle with you if you don’t know how to use it but if you do, you’re going to love it.

What are the main assets of the Faction Nine5 ski?

Structure - Construction

  • Dual Radius Sidecuts  :

Borrowed from world cup race skis, two different radius on the one ski- a tighter radius forward of the boot center coupled with a 20% larger sidecut behind- lets us increase the edge-to-edge responsiveness so you can carve short turns whilst retaining high speed stability and control through the tail of the ski.

  • Poplar & Ash Core  :

A poplar core with ash "stringers" is used for their complimentary characteristics of dampness and responsiveness. Used on the bulk of the skis, this together with fiberglass above and below the core provide a smooth feel and control in all snow conditions.

  • Sandwich Construction  :

    Sandwich construction

  •  :

Titanal has the same properties in all directions and excellent dampening properties. Our skis with Titanal have excellent torsional strength and responsiveness.

  • Transition zone technology  :

Our "Blended Transition Zones" use complex curve geometries where both positive/negative sidecut and where rocker/camber meet to make turn initiation fluid yet the whole ski more stable controllable in all conditions.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • 10/200mm Tip Rocker  :

Skis featuring a rockered tip and a traditional or flat camber float better on soft snow and deliver goof performance on groomers.

    10mm rise on a 200mm length.

  • 2mm Camber  :

Easy turn initiation on the slope, added reactivity off piste

  • 5/100mm tail rocker  :

The Rocker, or reverse camber, enhances powder floatation thanks to a bigger surface of contact with the snow. By combining different degrees of rocker with a flat or normal camber, powder performance is improved while piste performance isn't affected.

    5mm rocker rising on 100mm

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

  • Ptex-4000 die-cut bases  :

Very High density base for an excellent glide performance, wax retention, and resistance to abrasion.

  • Hardened Topsheets

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
