K2 AllLuvit 88 2017

Alpine Ski K2 AlLUVit 88

The AlLUVit 88 is a new ski in K2’s all-mountain women-specific series and it’s clearly going to be a best seller for 2017. It looks like a freerider and it works like a freerider: Its wide tip and tail and its tapered profile make the ski born to lay its tracks on powder. In terms of technology used, you get K2’s bioflex construction with a core blending fir wood, poplar wood and K2’s secret nanolite material. In the end, you get a super light and modern all-mountain / freeride-oriented ski perfectly suited for women.

What can the K2 AlLUVit 88 do?

With this ski you will bridge the gap between on-piste and off-piste skiing. It is the kind of ski that delivers a tremendeous amount of fun when carving trenches on the slopes because it feels stable with a good edge bite. And it feels incredibly enjoyable on soft snow where it floats on pow and manoeuvers with elegance on ungroomed snow. There are no limits with the AlLUVit, when you get off the chair, anywhere you look you can ride. The ski rides fast and gobbles up steep slopes and obstacles with a ridiculous ease. Dance through the trees, carve on groomers and surf on powder, there is nothing that the ski can’t do.

Who is the K2 AlLUVit 88 designed for?

K2 designed the ski with accessibility and easiness in mind and they succeeded. It is a fantastic all-mountain ski, very easy to manage, that should make a lot of women happy. From intermediates willing to progress to expert skiers seeking an easy-going all-terrain partner through advanced riders who want optimal versality, the AlLUVit 88 will not disappoint you.

What are the main assets of the K2 AlLUVit 88 ?

Structure - Construction

  • Hybritech sidewalls  :

This wider-waisted construction combines the accuracy and power performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight and smooth turn initiation of cap construction. Offered exclusively on the Side series, Hybritech makes skis strong, accurate and powerful underfoot, while maintaining smooth initiation and easy exits from turns.

  • Konic Technology  : Revolutionary core design that redistributes weight to the ski's perimeter providing power, strength and stability directly over the edge for performance, while reducing swing-weight from the center and extremities for added ease and control.
  • Bioflex core  :

Working with the Alliance Team to further develop our line of women's specific skis has lead to the Bioflex core, a breakthrough multi-wood core technology. Used on our T:Nine series of skis, the combination of two distinctly different woods, fir and spruce, provides a blend of stability and forgiveness in our women's skis. Not just different layers of wood, but completely different cores fused together at the tip and tail. Spruce, a light, soft wood is used in the extremities of the tip and tail and fir, a more solid, dense wood is used underfoot. The Spruce provides easy turn initiation, lightweight characteristics, and overall ease that T:Nine skis have come to be known for. The Fir underfoot provides a new level of confidence inspiring control, predictability and stability. The beauty of the Bioflex core is that it produces a lighter weight core which translates into skis that are easier to maneuver and causes less fatigue than a comparable men's size and model. The Bioflex core can also be tuned to the performance level of the ski. The Burnin' Luv and True Luv both share a Bioflex core, but the flex and performance levels differs dramatically.

  • Metal Laminate Technology  :

Built with two sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski, metal-laminate skis are the highest performing and most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, a metal laminate construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and Titanal above and below the wood core. Metal-laminates provide dampened, accurate, unshakable performance ideal for expert-level skiers.

  • Nanolite technology  :

Super lightweight, low-density, aerospace grade composite

  • Triaxial braiding  :

Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, that maintains the lively flex patterns of the wood core.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • All-Terrain Rocker  :

All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.

Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  •  :

The widest point of the tip and tail is further back on the ski, which reduces the weight of the tip and the resistance of it in soft snow.

Binding technologies

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
