K2 Poacher 2017

Alpine Ski K2 Poacher

This is the brand new Poacher, the latest addition in K2’s freestyle all-mountain lineup. The ski replaces the Shreditor 92 which has now retired. The Poacher comes with an extra 4 millimeters at the waist which gives you 96mm under the feet. Combined to a freestyle shape and an all-mountain DNA, you get a ski that can make the mountain your playground.

What can the K2 Poacher do?

Don’t try to find the ski’s limits cause you’ll reach yours before. The Poacher is a hell of a ride that’s gonna get your playful mood on. It is a twin tipped ski with a tip and tail rocker and a lot of power! The ski feels super nimble and moves in the park as if it was home. The rockers make it easy to move around and incredibly press-friendly. Yes, the ski is firm and responsive, it works more than well out of the park too. It’s got a solid edge bite and tons of pop. If you need to jump over the ropes and ride off piste, do so. You’ll have no problem shredding the backcountry with this killer quiver and sending tricks on pow is as easy as it is in the park. In the end, the Poacher is a versatile all-terrain machine that’s going to fuel your creativity and satisfy your imagination.

Who is the K2 Poacher designed for?

It is a ski that can make a lot of people happy. From intermediate skiers looking for a forgiving and catch-free ski to advanced or expert freestylers looking for a beefy and poppy park ripper that can deal with the pow when conditions are great, the Poacher does it all. It is a new ski and it is a great ski. Thumbs up!

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Multi-turns

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

Structure - Construction

  •  :

High density wood over the edges for maximum durability, with a lower density center core to keep the ride light and lively.

  • Triaxial braiding  :

Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, that maintains the lively flex patterns of the wood core.

  • TwinTech  :

This new Twin Tip specific construction process increases the durability of sidewall skis. A traditional sidewall construction produces a 90 degree angle where the top material and sidewall meet. The Twin Tech construction actually rolls the top material into the sidewall reducing the angle that is prone to abuse.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • All-Terrain Rocker  :

All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.

Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
