Alpine Ski Line Sir Francis Bacon

This is the narrowest and the most versatile ski of the freestyle backcountry range by Line. Skiers who may have tried older versions of it should be familiar with the way it works, although it has been redesigned for 2016.

What can the Line Sir Francis Bacon do?

The ski features a double Early Rise rocker and a very light woodcore both offering floatation, agility and liveliness. 108mm waisted, the Sir Francis Bacon feels more reactive than its bigger brother the Mordecai and yet performs equally well on deep powder. The ski pivots with an incredible ease and delivers a great surfy and floaty feel through pillow fields. It is a ski for hard chargers who like to send sick tricks off natural kickers and jump cliffs as a warm up before the session starts.  The ski sidecuts allow versatility and the way the ski works on hard snow is more than satisfying.  In the end, it is a superb freeride oriented ski suited for riders who like to ski the deep but who are happy spending some time in the resort as well.

Who is the Line Sir Francis Bacon designed for?

It is a demanding ski primarily intended for advanced or expert skiers looking for something that will let them work on their technical skills.

What are the main assets of the Sir Francis Bacon?

Versatility
Floatation
Agility

Structure - Construction

  • Cloud Core™  :

Futuristically blended wood and composite materials create an impossibly lightweight et solid core.

  • Thin Tip™  :

Super thin core & sidewall in the tips are 100 grams lighter per pair for reduced swing weight and tip bounce.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Early Rise  :

Tip rise starts earlier in the ski so the tips effortlessly rise out of powder & stay on top without needing to sit back.

  • Early Taper  :

The widest point of sidecut starts tapering earlier in the tip to reduces tail drag and hooking in powder.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  • 5-Cut Geometry  :

5 different sizes of sidecut radius shapes are blended into one, for intuitive control and unlimited turn shapes.

  • Semelle Sintered Base  :

    Sintered base

  • Symmetric Flex  :

The same ski flex in-front and behind your boot conforms to terrain for equally performance riding forward & backwards.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
