Alpine Ski Movement Fly Swatter

BOOM! Here is the Movement Fly Swatter, the ski that blew up the competition and won the Extrême of Verbier thanks to Kévin GURI. The Fly Swatter is simply the widest fat ski made by Movement. The 125mm waist and the 150mm tip are just nuts and you would have to see the beast to believe it. The massive tip and tail rocker provide a stunning buoyancy in bottomless powder. The 2017 Fly Swatter also offers a 5 points sidecut that really eases manoeuvres off-pist.

What can the Movement Fly Swatter ski do?

Don’t ask it to be powerful on groomers, it will deliver the minimum required to go down the hill and go back to the village, that’s it. If you have the chance to ride a meter of fresh pow you will daydream how insane the Fly Swatter is. With this powder ripper you don't ski, you levitate like on an overboard and you don’t feel the ground anymore. If you want to shoot your own ski movie in Whistler, Canada or see what’s going on in Japan, it is THE ski you need to shred the entire mountain. Ultra playful, insane sensations in freeride and in backcountry to smash pow like nobody’s business. Just live your dream!

Who is the Movement Fly Swatter ski designed for?

To have fun with such a powder killer you need 2 conditions: to have more than 30cm of fresh powder overnight, and to have crazy skills. We advise this ski to confirmed and expert riders seeking the ultimate weapon to rip everything out of bounds on big powder days.

What are the main assets of the Movement Fly Swatter ski ?

Shape

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

Structure - Construction

  • Construction CTS performance Plus
  • Dynamic Light Tri-Axial + Carbon  :

This structure delivers a stiff flex and resists to torsion. It is lighter than the standard tri-axial. The addition of carbon makes the ski even more reactive.

  • Unidirectional fibreglass and carbon
  • Poplar Core  :

Wood is alive, strong and resilient, and guarantees the ski’s continued resilience and longevity. MOVEMENT skis use only PURE wood cores; no synthetic or composite synthetic/wood cores (wood with injected foam) – (except kids skis). These cores are shaped from the most select materials, and are very accurately calibrated for the optimum result. We certify that the origin of our wood cores are FSC or PEFC. We have eliminated in our wood core assembly process the use of toxic adhesives.

    Poplar core

  • VA-TECH  :

The VATECH system is a layer of vibration-dampening rubber inserted under the binding, for better edge grip and a smoother ride. The NOSE VATECH system replaces the ABS plate on skis with a tip wider than 135 mm. This rubber layer smoothes the ride and dampens vibration of extra-wide tips.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  • P-Tex base 4000 1.3mm  :

High density base for a better performance and a longer lasting base.

Binding technologies

  • Kingpin toe piece  :

The inserts have pushed the pivot point further forward toward the toes/balls of the feet, allowing the foot to roll more ergonomically and 'naturally,' which cuts exertion. The pins click directly into the boot, which reduces the lifting force required to walk. This more direct connection also provides better control and steering during walking and especially when traversing on hard snow.

The combination of optimized pivot point, better rolling behavior and the fact that the heel piece doesn't rise together with the binding frame saves a tremendous amount of energy during the ascent. This is most noticeable on long tours covering many vertical meters.

Six springs made of high-performance steel deliver a boost in energy capture compared with traditional PinTech toe pieces. The KINGPIN 13 delivers even higher spring compression than the KINGPIN 10 to accommodate for athletic skiers who demand uncompromising power transmission without a single misstep. The annoying, and in many cases highly dangerous, blocking step has also been eliminated!

Individually adjustable boot stop position the boot in the right place and make it easy to step in, regardless of the brand or model of boot (set the exact configuration using the included adjustment gauge). Simply push the toe of the boot up to the boot stops, apply pressure to the toes and you're already finished. The pins click securely into the inserts. The system will then only open if the pre-configured release force is produced. The boots stops are delivered at a default setting that accommodates roughly 80% of the boots on the market. Changes to the standard settings can be made when the bindings are mounted.

The PinTech toe piece for the MARKER KINGPIN. Extraordinary in design, innovative in its technical execution. The highlights include the Sixpack springs for powerful grip of the boot — these toe pieces are unlike anything that's come before (six springs instead of four). An integrated crampon adapter is naturally also part of the standard version

  • Kingpin heel lifts  :

    Easy to use

The KINGPIN has three heel lifts integrated into the heel piece  : 0°, 7° and 13°. These lifts are easily adjustable with the tip of a pole. They are placed in the middle of the heel piece for quick access.

  • Kingpin Heel piece  : The heel construction is a revolution for any PinTech binding, with contact points placed very wide and far apart to hold the boot heel along a broad surface on its outermost edge. This eliminates any wobble in the tipping forces used to initiate turns and lets power be transmitted smoothly via the binding into the ski. Because skis are primarily steered using impulses originating in the heel, the KINGPIN heel pieces are highly decisive in achieving maximum, highly direct power transmission, top control and pure bliss in the descent. This is another key benefit over previous PinTech bindings that transmit power via two simple metal pins positioned close to one another in the boot's heel, which leaves the boot seated in a highly wobbly manner, and builds a highly indirect path for the steering impulses to reach the ski. Two different brakes are available for the KINGPIN (75-100 mm ski width and 100-125 mm ski width). Beyond the standard safety features, they are notable for one convenient feature: They automatically lock into place when in walk mode, and immediately reactivate when the binding is switched into ski mode. The brakes feature a notably large move-in, moving away from the traditional brake shape that sticks far out beyond the ski. The brakes are also quick and easy to replace.
