Alpine Ski Salomon Q103 Stella

The Quest series is Salomon’s All Mountain Backside range, exclusive to women. The launch of the series was a true success last year, the 4 skis return for 2016 with a few upgrades and new graphics.  The Q103 is the fat one in the family, 102mm at the waist, it scares children and devours the mountain for fun.

What can the Q 103 Stella do?

It is the Fat all-mountain by Salomon. It rips and destroys anything you throw on its path. Incredibly agile on deep powder, the Stella shines in the backcountry where it truly excels. The sidecuts and shape provide tons of support on fresh snow and a natural floatation. Its honeycomb structured rockered tip carries you afloat with ease and allows for smooth long turns through the deep.  It delivers decent performance on piste with enough traction and control to make it safe to the resort.

Who is the Q 103 Stella designed for?

Sporty women skiers. The 103 is a big (if not massive) ski and even if it’s quite light considering its size, it needs strong legs to be managed. It is a powerful all-terrain vehicle if you are a strong advanced or expert level skier.

What are the main assets of the Salomon Q 103 Stella?

Powder agility
Stability on crud

Playfulness

Structure - Construction

  • 100% wood core from tip to tail  :

Provides optimum stability and powerful rebounce. Better contact ski/snow and reduces vibrations.

  • Honeycomb structured tips  :

Tips are ultralight and offer a better floatability. Less swing weight for added manoeuverability et more control. Better dampening and durability.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Utility Rocker  :

Optimal float and control paired with an excellent absorbtion of terrain changes

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Various

  • Thicker edges  :

For a longer durability and stronger against impacts.

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.

Touring Binding Marker Baron 13 EPF 110 mm Black White Silver

As the lighter cousin to the Duke with a DIN setting up 13, the Baron has earned its stripes as a favorite amongst big mountain, backcountry enthusiasts. Extended Power Frame (EPF), with its extra-wide connection to the ski, gives it the structure needed to power today's wider skis through any snow conditions, whether inside or outside the resort. The 10 mm wider drilling pattern blasts the Baron into a new stratosphere of power, with a DIN setting up 13. In addition the Baron 13 EPF also comes with Sole.ID and the easy-to-handle climbing aid.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Inter-Pivot Heel  :

The stunning heel construction delivers superior holding power for free riding, featuring DIN/ISO 6-16. The Inter Pivot Heel directs the power forces in the angle of elasticity improving the holding power and reducing pre-releases.
