Alpine Ski Salomon QST 85

Welcome to the QST 85, the new all-mountain ski signed by Salomon. On one side it has all the latest innovations of the brand to gain in manoeuvrability, and on the other side it dropped the demanding reinforcements to become as forgiving as possible. Salomon found the perfect balance on this model and invites the wide public to have a blast all day everyday.

What can the Salomon QST 85  ski do?

You just have to ride few runs to realise how playful this ski is. The early rise of the tip we call rocker comes into action and makes the ski turn without effort. You just have to tilt a bit on the edge and you initiate the turn automatically. Without all the reinforcement its big brothers have, its flex is pretty soft and forgiving. You will have fun doing turns on slopes from dawn until dusk to improve your technique without wearing yourself out. You take your time to adjust your position and the trajectory of your skis, play with the elevation terrain and enjoy the kick out of turns. You can even test carving if you want to go up to the next level. With the QST 85 you can even ride beside the slopes and enjoy the fresh powder. You don’t know this feeling of floating yet? You will love it!! Salomon invites you to explore every single spot of the ski resort with this fun and versatile QST 85.

Who is the Salomon QST 85 designed for?

Salomon is aiming for intermediate and advanced skiers looking for smooth progression and great fun on the slopes. The QST 85 delivers good performance but most importantly it feels comfortable and easy to manage. It is a ski made for those who want to fully enjoy every single day out in the mountain.

What are the main assets of the Salomon QST 85 ski?

Structure - Construction

  •  :

The Salomon models with Koroyd extremities make a great performance ski for the intermediate and a great value ski for the expert. Koroyd’s Honeycomb Tip removes heavier material away from the tips of the skis to lower the swingweight, to make it easier to maneuver, and less fatiguing.

  • Woodcore  :

Wood is added into the core to improve on-snow stability and return. It also makes the contact ski/snow smoother and eliminates chatter.

  • Semi-Sandwich  :

Combination of ABS sidewalls under the foot with monocoque construction by the tip and the tail for a smoother ski/snow contact, a more forgiving feel and easier turns.

  • Honeycomb structured tips  :

Tips are ultralight and offer a better floatability. Less swing weight for added manoeuverability et more control. Better dampening and durability.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • All-Terrain Rocker 2.0  :

    Absorption of terrain variations

70% of the ski is in contact with the snow when it sits flat on the ground. 90% of it is in contact with the snow when it is on the edges.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.

  • Extended transfert plateform  :

A wide integrated Aluminium plate embedded in rubber, for direct feedback from the terrain and better power transmission.

  • Heel protection
  • Pulse PAD  :

A layer of rubber along the edges and in certain zones of the ski for smoother ride and improved ski-snow contact.

  • Gentle Rise Tail  :

Gentle rise of the tail for more forgiveness and more control in all conditions

Binding technologies

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
