Alpine Ski Salomon QST 99

Just coming out of the Salomon factory, the QST 99 has great ambitions through the new Backside ski serie. Engineered as a super versatile ski, it benefits a wood core and titanium reinforcing to express yourself with impetuosity on all terrains. Salomon didn’t forget to shape it with an all terrain tip and tail rocker 2.0 ensuring forgiveness and an optimum floatation in deep.

What can the Salomon QST 99 ski do?

With this modern and versatile ski we don’t really know where to start. Few runs on slopes and you will discover its impressive edge hold abilities on hard snow. Even with a 99mm waist, the QST 99 allows quick and accurate edge to edge transitions. You will have fun gunning down the hill looking for the limits of the titanium reinforcing making it really lively. Even with a double rocker that facilitates turn initiations and turn exits, the QST 99 offers a 19m radius. Don’t expect a ski to shortswing but a powerful ski shaped to slay big lines and have adrenalines rushes. The QST 99 is also the ski of predilection of the powder hunters seeking wide landscapes. Its 5 points sidecut gives it a tapered shape allowing it to navigate in fresh and deep snow. What a pleasure to float intuitively thanks to its all terrain rocker 2.0. After several tests we definitely have a crush on this year QST 99.

Who is the Salomon QST 99 ski designed for?

The confirmed skiers will rush to get their hands on a ski that versatile and that fun to ride. This quiver as comfortable in powder as it is on transformed snow is about to become the Salomon’s best-seller.

What are the main assets of the Salomon QST 99 ski?

Structure - Construction

  • CFX Superfiber  :

Ultra light, ultra strong, with better dampening

  •  :

The Salomon models with Koroyd extremities make a great performance ski for the intermediate and a great value ski for the expert. Koroyd’s Honeycomb Tip removes heavier material away from the tips of the skis to lower the swingweight, to make it easier to maneuver, and less fatiguing.

  • Reverse 3D woodcore  :

Woodcore bringing stability and optimal energy return, ski/snow contact is enhanced with less vibrations.

  • Power Platform  :

Titanal insert from an edge to another for optimal underfoot power and enhanced edge grip.

  • 360° full sandwich  :

Full Sandwich construction with integrated tip to tail ABS sidewalls for enhanced ski/snow contact feel, durability and all terrain versatility.

  • Honeycomb structured tips  :

Tips are ultralight and offer a better floatability. Less swing weight for added manoeuverability et more control. Better dampening and durability.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • All-Terrain Rocker 2.0  :

    Absorption of terrain variations

70% of the ski is in contact with the snow when it sits flat on the ground. 90% of it is in contact with the snow when it is on the edges.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.

  • Heel protection
  • Pulse PAD  :

A layer of rubber along the edges and in certain zones of the ski for smoother ride and improved ski-snow contact.

  • Gentle Rise Tail  :

Gentle rise of the tail for more forgiveness and more control in all conditions

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
