Alpine Ski Salomon QST Lumen 99

After remodeling the freeride ski range and the replacement of the Q serie by the new QST ski serie, Salomon introduce the QST Lumen 99, one of the best freeride ski that will make most of the freerider happy! Great versatility, the 99mm waist is wide enough to slay powder on virgin faces and narrow enough to allow intuitive edge to edge transition on hard snow with accuracy. Its titanium reinforcement brings the stiffness and the liveliness athletes need to engage on all terrains.

What can the Salomon QST Lumen 99 ski do?

This mid fat is the ultimate weapon for freeriders looking for an all terrain ski powder orientated. Its generous sidecut and its tapered shape make it an incredible powder ski which floats by itself. The tip and tail rockers swallow terrain asperities and keep it on the surface in deep. Salomon engineers put some Koroyd in the tip to improve the absorption and decrease the weight. The ends of the ski are lighter, reducing the swing weight and making it turn easily while absorbing shocks on crusty and crud snow. In the slopes the QST Lumen 99 shines thanks to its great edge hold and stability. You will gun down the slopes with ease like you will do with an all-mountain ski and you can even kick in to push the adrenaline rush.

Who is the Salomon QST Lumen 99 ski designed for?

We advice this ski for confirmed to expert skiers looking for a powerful off pist ski even on hard snow. Its titanium plate make the QST Lumen 99 quite demanding and tiring if you don’t have the physical conditions or the adequate skills.

Structure - Construction

  • CFX Superfiber  :

Ultra light, ultra strong, with better dampening

  • Laminate titanium layer  :

Titanium layer delivers power and fast edge-to-edge transfers.

  •  :

The Salomon models with Koroyd extremities make a great performance ski for the intermediate and a great value ski for the expert. Koroyd’s Honeycomb Tip removes heavier material away from the tips of the skis to lower the swingweight, to make it easier to maneuver, and less fatiguing.

  • Reverse 3D woodcore  :

Woodcore bringing stability and optimal energy return, ski/snow contact is enhanced with less vibrations.

  • Power Platform  :

Titanal insert from an edge to another for optimal underfoot power and enhanced edge grip.

  • 360° full sandwich  :

Full Sandwich construction with integrated tip to tail ABS sidewalls for enhanced ski/snow contact feel, durability and all terrain versatility.

  • Honeycomb structured tips  :

Tips are ultralight and offer a better floatability. Less swing weight for added manoeuverability et more control. Better dampening and durability.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • All-Terrain Rocker 2.0  :

    Absorption of terrain variations

70% of the ski is in contact with the snow when it sits flat on the ground. 90% of it is in contact with the snow when it is on the edges.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.

  • Heel protection
  • Gentle Rise Tail  :

Gentle rise of the tail for more forgiveness and more control in all conditions

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
