Alpine Ski Salomon QST Myriad 85

The QST Myriad 85 is the little brother of the new freeride ski range signed by Salomon. With limited sidecut, it is more a women all-mountain than a real freeride ski. Salomon decided to develop an easy access and forgiving ski, no more metal reinforcement we just have here a lively wood core and a 5 points sidecut for an easier and more intuitive glide.

What can the Salomon QST Myriad 85 ski do?

Designed to go on all terrains and in all snow conditions, the QST Myriad 85 is a really well balanced all-mountain ski. Good edge hold on groomed runs, low speed, high speed, short turns, long turns it does it all and is lively underfoot. The QST Myriad 85 might be a bit soft and not too stable on iced and crusty snow. Thanks to its double rocker, the ski is perfect in soft and fresh snow where it floats easily. A good choice if you like long ski sessions and spring skiing.

Who is the Salomon QST Myriad 85 designed for?

This all-mountain ski will be perfect for intermediate to confirmed skiers who want to go everywhere in all snow conditions. It is awesome on soft and fresh snow. Ladies here is a perfect ski to go skiing on any slopes and enjoy the long sunshiny days effortlessly.

Shape

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  • Woodcore  :

Wood is added into the core to improve on-snow stability and return. It also makes the contact ski/snow smoother and eliminates chatter.

  • Semi-Sandwich  :

Combination of ABS sidewalls under the foot with monocoque construction by the tip and the tail for a smoother ski/snow contact, a more forgiving feel and easier turns.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • All-Terrain Rocker 2.0  :

    Absorption of terrain variations

70% of the ski is in contact with the snow when it sits flat on the ground. 90% of it is in contact with the snow when it is on the edges.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Hook Free  :

Tapered shape, 5 point sidecuts, allows easier turn initiations on soft snow, tip and tail don't catch snow. The tip vibrates less.

  • Extended transfert plateform  :

A wide integrated Aluminium plate embedded in rubber, for direct feedback from the terrain and better power transmission.

  • Heel protection
  • Pulse PAD  :

A layer of rubber along the edges and in certain zones of the ski for smoother ride and improved ski-snow contact.

  • Gentle Rise Tail  :

Gentle rise of the tail for more forgiveness and more control in all conditions

Binding technologies

  • Touring mode  :

The patented, ergonomically shaped lever under the boot allows comfortable opening and closing. The position prevents the binding from unwanted release and provides unparalleled security against an undesired “telemark“ situation.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole holders ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other MARKER bindings. Why should touring skiers and freestylers accept any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
