Alpine Ski Scott Cascade 110

Last year, the ski was flowing through the resorts everywhere in the world and it seems like it’s going to do the same show for 2017. The Cascade 110 is back with its revolutionary construction and shape blending ski touring and freeride backcountry. When you see it for the first time, you will probably think it’s a pure freerider, huge sidecuts, massive rockers, 108mm at the waist, it’s hard to imagine it with skins right? And yet, it can actually climb well and take you to the secret spots you’ve always wanted to shred.

What can the Scott Cascade 110 ski do?

“What a blast!” These are the first words that came out of our tester’s mouth at the end of the test. The Cascade 110 is an unexpected ski and it’s the least we can say. Despite its impressive sidecuts, the ski remains light and powerful. Mount it with adapted touring bindings and make the mountain yours. The ski climbs uphill without complaining and delivers a good grip which inspires confidence. However, with a 142mm wide tip, you won’t be able to follow other tracks and you’ll have to make your own which means you’ll need to be in good physical conditions. It’s really on the downhill that the ski excels. It’s a beast that gobbles up obstacles and deep powder with a ferocious appetite. It feels fun and floaty, it works like a surfboard on the deep and manoeuvers naturally. You can even ski switch if you’re up for some freestyle, the ski won’t mind and may even ask for more. With the Cascade 110, Scott’s leaving its mark on the mountain and provides skiers with an incredible performer.

Who is the Scott Cascade 110 ski designed for?

This touring ski was designed for new school advanced and expert skiers who want to avoid groomed snow as much as they can. The Cascade 110 is a fantastic big mountain / freeride ski that complies with climbing sking in case you want to do small approaches to reach untouched spots.

What are the main assets of the Scott Cascade 110 ski?

Powder floatation

Touring ski category

  • FreeTouring  :

Ski designed for alpine or touring use. It’s advisable to mount a freetouring binding on it. The ski is very light which is good for the uphill bits of your tour, but it’s also very good at skiing downhill whether the snow is groomed or not.

Type of turns

  • Long turns

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

Structure - Construction

  • Sandwich construction  :

Sandwich construction is part of a quality ski. This construction layers different materials chosen for their physical characteristics depending on the characteristics needed for the ski.

  • Tip to tail woodcore  :

The long woodcore gives the ski a more consistent flex and more fluidity through transitions.

  • Sandwich construction with slanted sidewalls and elliptic laminates  : FORGIVENESS & VERSATILITY - SSCL combines a laminate top and bottom sheet with a traditional sandwich sidewall construction. SCOTT optimized material usage to provide a construction that drastically reduces the weight of the ski. Specific braiding and different combinations of laminates guarantee the best possible construction for their intended use.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Twin-Tip Rocker L  :

Twin rocker places rocker on both the tip and tail of twin tip skis to allow for maximum float when riding forward or switch. Tail rocker also improves ski handling by allowing the tail of the ski to sit deeper in the snow bringing the tip up resulting in total domination in deep snow.

Twin-Tip Rocker comes in three different sizes S, M and L.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

  • 3D Sidecut  :

Revolutionary technology combining 2 radius with a central straight sidecut, allowing twin rocker skis to be brilliant on off pist with an excellent edge grip on pistes.

  • Freestyle Finish  :

Scott Freestyle Finish is especially designed for a more playful freestyle ski. The main difference from the factory finish is the bigger base edge angle of 1.6°. This larger angle makes the ski easier to spin and more forgiving on landings and rails.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
