Alpine Ski Scott Layla

The Layla is to powder what stars are to the sky. They go together, no matter what. A real women-specific freeride ski that shines onto the deep. Its 95mm waist and its Venturi tip and tail provide it with a dazzling floatation and help dampening the ride when the terrain gets bumpy. The double radius and the sidecut of the ski improve turn initiations even when the snow reaches your knees. The agility and the energy delivered by the ski are truly enjoyable and will certainly help you make it to the next level in a jiffy.

What our testers say: A good match for advanced and expert female skiers who like to surf the deep. Derived from the Venture for men, the Layla isn't that difficult to ride, but requires strong legs to reveal itself completely. Its specific shape keeps the tips above the surface effortlessly and the ski manoeuvers through pow with a stunning ease. Being quite responsive, the skis handled themselves well on harder snow, which is a real bonus.

Structure - Construction

  • Hollow woodcore  :

    Lighter hollow woodcore.

Woodcores - used since ever in the ski industry - offers great performance. They provide stability and rebound, eliminate vibrations and are extremely durable.

  • SSCL Light  :

Classic sandwich construction with slanted sidewalls associated with a lighter core made of wood and fibers.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Venturi-Tip Rocker M  :

Venturi-Tip Rocker combines a hollowed tip with a rocker shape. The resulting Venturi-Tip Rocker design allows for great float and better tracking, yielding a highly versatile performer in variable conditions.

    +Excellent float and turn initiation

+Offers stability at high speeds in all conditions

+Reduces surface pressure resulting in improved ski handling

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

Various

  • Dual Radius  :

Traditional skis have a fixed radius that determines the length of every turn. SCOTT skis combine two radii (dual radius) to create the sidecut or “shape” of the ski. By incorporating the Dual Radius concept, the ski can turn when you want it to turn, resulting in a more versatile ski which is not confined to one type of skiing or terrain.

  • Factory Finish  :

SCOTT skis come direct from the factory "ready to ski" with SCOTT factory finish. Every factory finished ski leaves the factory with side edges ground at 89° and base edges ground between 0.5° and 0.8° for exceptional performance. The base is finished with a micro structured CNC stone grind so you can mount your skis and hit the hill, no tuning required.

  • Women's Specific Construction  :

All Women’s skis feature women’s specific construction. SCOTT women’s skis are designed to be light and lively while meeting the levels of performance that women skiers demand.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.
