Alpine Ski Scott Xplor'Air

Scott is releasing a fantastic touring ski for going high and fast in the mountains. Enough dreamed in front of pictures and videos, it's time to do rather than watch! Now it's your turn to go on an adventure and explore! With the Xplor'Air you will discover the highest peaks in Europe and leave your tracks on the most beautiful spots on earth!

What can the Scott Xplor'Air do?

The Xplor'Air is a sweet blend of paulownia wood and carbon stringers bringing lightweight to its best. 1450g in 175cm, these are staggering figures. With a waist at 80mm, Scott clearly designed their ski as a climber, light, agile, ready to skin up any face of the mountain. Kick turns are easy and the ski inspires confidence thanks to a solid bite on hard snow which is pretty welcome when you need to cross a steep wall. On the downhill, our testers were fairly happy with it. Don't expect a freerider cause it's not one, but the rockered tip enhances floatability and agility on soft snow and makes the ski easy to manage. The flat tail gives you that little boost and makes the ski more stable as well.

Who is the Scott Xplor'Air designed for?

We recommend it to experienced tourers who need something that goes up as fast as it rides down. It is a real touring ski in the sense that it is super light and suitable for tours of several days. Advanced and expert levels recommended.

What are the main assets of the Scott Xplor'Air?

Structure - Construction

  • 3D Carbon Frame  :

This specific geometric frame reduces the weight and reinforces the top compression layer of the ski. The frame is also an ideal solution to control the torsion. When used on carbon touring skis, it increases safety and flex performance on steep slopes.

  • SSCL Carbon  :

Classic sandwich construction with slanted sidewalls and superior and inferior laminated reinforcements; Radius and cap finish on the top part of the structure.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Pro Tip 350 mm  :

By incorporating a progressive tip height radius, SCOTT skis simply track better than the competition. SCOTT's Pro-Tip produces a more consistent ski flex and predictable turns. Pro-Tip is available in three heights 300mm (Precision On-Piste), 350mm (All-Mountain) and 375mm (Full Freeride). Tip Rocker 350 mm.

  • Dual Radius  :

Traditional skis have a fixed radius that determines the length of every turn. SCOTT skis combine two radii (dual radius) to create the sidecut or “shape” of the ski. By incorporating the Dual Radius concept, the ski can turn when you want it to turn, resulting in a more versatile ski which is not confined to one type of skiing or terrain.

  • Factory Finish  :

SCOTT skis come direct from the factory "ready to ski" with SCOTT factory finish. Every factory finished ski leaves the factory with side edges ground at 89° and base edges ground between 0.5° and 0.8° for exceptional performance. The base is finished with a micro structured CNC stone grind so you can mount your skis and hit the hill, no tuning required.

Binding technologies

  • Touring mode  :

    Walk mode for touring

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Hollow Linkage Heel  :

The heel was also redesigned from the ground up to guarantee optimal retention for all types of alpine and touring soles. The aluminium hollow axle saves on weight and maximizes the torsional stiffness. This very robust heel construction is best suited for the most strenuous of requirements.

  • Triple Pivot Light  :

The newly designed, compact toe features a horizontally inserted spring. Together with the gliding plate the gliding elements integrated into the sole plates ensure a very precise release behaviour which is comparable to all other Marker bindings. Why should tourers and freestylers make any compromises? An aluminium bridge on the top provides additional support without adding any extra weight.
