Alpine Ski Volkl Mantra

Here we go again with the Mantra. Volkl's high-end fat freeride ski returns for 2016 with the same construction and profile. This powder monster was a serious challenger for competitors and it seems like their worries are not about to end.

What can the Völkl Mantra do?

If you look at the ski's DNA, you understand straight away that it makes no jokes. 100mm at the waist, tip and tail rocker, flat underfoot camber...these are the ingredients of pure performance. Eager for powder, the Mantra will take you to the wildest spots and on the deepest fluff to really shine and show its personality. The ski floats with a ridiculous ease and manoeuvers through the deep with agility. All you want when you're on these sticks is to get your speed cranked up and shred all day. Its sturdy construction, which incoprorates titanal, makes the ski extremely powerful and stable. It devours the slopes and destroys obstacles as if it was easy. The ski also works on hard snow even if it's not its favorite playground. The stiff construction provides enough edge control to make your way down the resort at the end of the day.

Who is the Völkl Mantra designed for?

The Mantra remains loyal to the backcountry. It is a pure freeride ski suited for advanced and expert riders who seek the deep every day.

What are the main assets of the Völkl Mantra ?

Floatation
Power
Agility

Structure - Construction

  • Multi Layer Woodcore  :

Völkl freeskiing models feature a multi-layer wood core with two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood creates secure screw retention and stability, while the softer poplar section allows for resilience and snap. The flex pattern can be tailored to each ski model to match the desired performance characteristics.

  • Power Construction  :

Völkl’s longest-running construction, Power Construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. Used in racing skis as well as all the freeskiing models, this versatile, proven construction provides tremendous grip and stability when combined with the Sensorwood core.

  • Powered by Titanium  :

The top-of-the-line models in the VÖLKL Alpine ski range boast a special wood core tuning system - all powered by titanium. Above and below the XTD Sensor Wood Core or XTD Wood Core, there is a layer of titanium reinforcing the ski and adding power and stability. The thin yet extremely strong aluminium alloy extends its unparalleled dampening properties particularly at high speeds.

  • Sidewall  :

The combinaison of sidewalls with an added mini-cap ensures better power transfer and improved protection for the top edge. The sidewall supports aggressive, agile and playful on-piste skiing.

Technology

  • Full Rocker  :

The running length of the edge can vary at the fore part of the ski. The rocker rises moderately. The running length under the binding provides an efficient floatation better than the one found on wider skis.

Touring Binding Marker Baron 13 EPF 110 mm Black White Silver

As the lighter cousin to the Duke with a DIN setting up 13, the Baron has earned its stripes as a favorite amongst big mountain, backcountry enthusiasts. Extended Power Frame (EPF), with its extra-wide connection to the ski, gives it the structure needed to power today's wider skis through any snow conditions, whether inside or outside the resort. The 10 mm wider drilling pattern blasts the Baron into a new stratosphere of power, with a DIN setting up 13. In addition the Baron 13 EPF also comes with Sole.ID and the easy-to-handle climbing aid.

Binding technologies

  • Triple Pivot Elite Toe  :

The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the highest energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • Anti Friction Device AFD  :

All Marker bindings are equipped with a moveable AFD (anti friction device) and therefore guarantee a highly precise release almost entirely unhindered by dirt, snow and ice! Individual adjustment of the AFD to the area of application ensures perfect functionality - from racing, for children’s bindings or on ski tours.

  • Inter-Pivot Heel  :

The stunning heel construction delivers superior holding power for free riding, featuring DIN/ISO 6-16. The Inter Pivot Heel directs the power forces in the angle of elasticity improving the holding power and reducing pre-releases.
