Alpine Ski Volkl V-Werks BMT 94

The Big Mountain Touring ski series by Volkl represents freeride at its best and though these high-end skis the V-Werks BMT 94 is the most versatile one. It carries Volkl’s latest technologies like a revolutionary topsheet that prevents snow from sticking on it or a continuous rocker running on the full length of the ski.

What can the Volkl V-Werks BMT 94 ski do?

It is an exceptional touring ski delivering incredibly high performance on all terrains. With the skins on it, the ski climbs walls with a ridiculous ease. Its ultra light construction (1450g in 176cm) makes it effortless to move around and you’ll save lots of calories when the path points uphill. It’s a good ski for short approaches or for longer tours in the high alpine. But even if the ski performs well through ascents, it will reveal its full potential on the downhill. Its continuous rocker gives a nice and playful character to the ski which pivots naturally even in knee-deep powder. It’s also a powerful and precise ripper that holds its own more than well on hard snow. It feels responsive and its lightweight construction doesn’t feel weak at all when charging at high speed. You can lay down long arcs on groomers, slalom through the trees and even jump off cornices all with the same ski. There’s hardly anything that will slow you down.

Who is the Volkl V-Werks BMT 94 ski designed for?

This high-end touring ski was designed for advanced skiers looking for the lightest big-mountain ski available on the market. Featuring the latest techs and a high-end construction, the BMT 94 is going to help you discover new sides of the mountain and lay tracks where nobody else has.

Structure - Construction

  • 3D. Ridge  : It has become a symbol of Völkl lightweight construction. The distinctive characteristic of this technology is a raised central ridge that sharply levels out toward the edge, both in front of and behind the binding. This reduces the inertial mass around the fulcrum to a minimum and significantly enhances the agility of the ski. At the same time, the center ridge allows for a precise dimensioning of the hardness distribution, which leads to an especially harmonious flex on the ski. Despite the weight savings, the 3D.RIDGE ensures that there is no compromise whatsoever in the ski‘s durability and elasticity.
  • Full Carbon Jacket
  • Multi Layer Woodcore Light  :

Ultra light woodcore meeting the best expectations for tourins skis

Camber type

  • Flat camber  :

Enhances ski pivot without compromising edge control on hard snow.

  • Full Rocker  :

The running length of the edge can vary at the fore part of the ski. The rocker rises moderately. The running length under the binding provides an efficient floatation better than the one found on wider skis.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

Binding technologies

  • Kingpin toe piece  :

The inserts have pushed the pivot point further forward toward the toes/balls of the feet, allowing the foot to roll more ergonomically and 'naturally,' which cuts exertion. The pins click directly into the boot, which reduces the lifting force required to walk. This more direct connection also provides better control and steering during walking and especially when traversing on hard snow.

The combination of optimized pivot point, better rolling behavior and the fact that the heel piece doesn't rise together with the binding frame saves a tremendous amount of energy during the ascent. This is most noticeable on long tours covering many vertical meters.

Six springs made of high-performance steel deliver a boost in energy capture compared with traditional PinTech toe pieces. The KINGPIN 13 delivers even higher spring compression than the KINGPIN 10 to accommodate for athletic skiers who demand uncompromising power transmission without a single misstep. The annoying, and in many cases highly dangerous, blocking step has also been eliminated!

Individually adjustable boot stop position the boot in the right place and make it easy to step in, regardless of the brand or model of boot (set the exact configuration using the included adjustment gauge). Simply push the toe of the boot up to the boot stops, apply pressure to the toes and you're already finished. The pins click securely into the inserts. The system will then only open if the pre-configured release force is produced. The boots stops are delivered at a default setting that accommodates roughly 80% of the boots on the market. Changes to the standard settings can be made when the bindings are mounted.

The PinTech toe piece for the MARKER KINGPIN. Extraordinary in design, innovative in its technical execution. The highlights include the Sixpack springs for powerful grip of the boot — these toe pieces are unlike anything that's come before (six springs instead of four). An integrated crampon adapter is naturally also part of the standard version

  • Kingpin heel lifts  :

    Easy to use

The KINGPIN has three heel lifts integrated into the heel piece  : 0°, 7° and 13°. These lifts are easily adjustable with the tip of a pole. They are placed in the middle of the heel piece for quick access.

  • Kingpin Heel piece  : The heel construction is a revolution for any PinTech binding, with contact points placed very wide and far apart to hold the boot heel along a broad surface on its outermost edge. This eliminates any wobble in the tipping forces used to initiate turns and lets power be transmitted smoothly via the binding into the ski. Because skis are primarily steered using impulses originating in the heel, the KINGPIN heel pieces are highly decisive in achieving maximum, highly direct power transmission, top control and pure bliss in the descent. This is another key benefit over previous PinTech bindings that transmit power via two simple metal pins positioned close to one another in the boot's heel, which leaves the boot seated in a highly wobbly manner, and builds a highly indirect path for the steering impulses to reach the ski. Two different brakes are available for the KINGPIN (75-100 mm ski width and 100-125 mm ski width). Beyond the standard safety features, they are notable for one convenient feature: They automatically lock into place when in walk mode, and immediately reactivate when the binding is switched into ski mode. The brakes feature a notably large move-in, moving away from the traditional brake shape that sticks far out beyond the ski. The brakes are also quick and easy to replace.
