Description
The Flip Removable Airbag is a new Mammut airbag that is even lighter (1910g with the carbon cartridge). With its 20 liters of storage space it is perfect for day trips. It is the ultimate weapon in case of an avalanche. But don't let that stop you from reading the ARO and studying your route. This Mammut air bag is super efficient but it's not magic.
How does the Mammut Flip Removable air bag work?
The function of the avalanche airbag is based on the principle of reverse segregation (dissociation effect): in a uniformly moving mass (e.g. snow), the smaller particles tend to slide downwards, while the larger ones rise to the surface. By activating the release handle, the avalanche airbag increases the volume to amplify this effect. The avalanche airbag thus offers an active means of prevention against partial or total burial, and ideally allows for self-rescue or rapid localization.
