What model to choose for a trek/hike: igloo tent or tunnel tent?
The first question to ask is which shape to choose? Indeed, there are dome shaped 1-person trekking tents and tunnel shape options.
One-person dome tents, also called igloos, have the advantage of being freestanding, meaning their double crossed arch structure allows the tent to retain its shape even without pegs. This allows you to set up your tent in one place and then move it to another place very easily if needed. Another advantage of the dome tent: it offers a generous interior volume. On the other hand, a dome tent is generally heavier and bulkier to carry than a tunnel tent.
